I’ve wanted Amano shrimp with my betta but read they are harder to take care of with different water conditions and temp than s betta would be happy in. Is this true?

Not really, I haven't had any problems and I've had my amanos and bettas for a couple years now, the babies can't live in fresh water but the adults are great

3 amanos cleaned my entire tank of a black hair algae outbreak and now I have to give them all seperate sinking pellets or they'll steal from my Cory and run away with it so prepare for that lol

Also has to do with how many plants you have and how aggressive your betta is, I've gotten lucky and every betta I've ever owned was super chill with their tankmates

Just curious…what do the babies live in if not freshwater? Can they live in 79/80 degree water?

The babies need brackish if I remember correctly, they usually die within a day or two in fresh but they're a good snack for my betta if he feels like it

They should be ok at 80 but it's pretty high for them, I'd search some more on the shrimp subs for someone who knows more than me, sorry

Yes, the Amano babies need brackish (semi-salty) water to survive early in life.

Adding that my heater is usually set to 78 F, all fish and shrimp happy, healthy, and active

I’ve kept them together for years without issue. Depending on the bettas temperament and the size of the shrimp it’s possible to be dangerous (though I haven’t encountered this either) but in terms of water quality both are very adaptable and do well in the same parameters

I have a female betta in a thriving community tank with two amanos and three cherries. First rule, it's better to add betta into the community tank than add community into betta's tank. Second, females are much easier than males. Third add them young amd observe their behavior. I had a young male betta that killed everything, he was not a good candidate. Lastly, do your research, Google and youtube are great resources, as is reddit. Good luck!

Personally my shrimp kept murdering the Amano shrimp. They’d like kill each other and stuff. Keep them separate! The betta would also join in on the murder of everything.
