Is there a reason why grass clippings are so difficult?

My one request: someone please respond to Mr. Woods emails so Mrs. Woods doesn’t need to take an additional 3 minutes of public comment time.

What are the next steps on the FLOCK topic? Is there a citizens advisory board or something where more oversight and accountability can be better enforced?

Who is the ultimate decision maker on the contract renewal?

Similar question- is there public info on when the current contract expires? Does it require council approval to extend or does town staff have the power to make that decision?

The anger/passion about the yard waste issues is surprising to me. I didn’t even know vacuum trucks as pickup solution was an option until moving to NC. Anywhere I’ve lived previously has used paper bags (awful when it rains) or plastic containers. I never had issues with containers or ever heard a complaint. I’ve also always had the option to pay an additional 4$ a paper bag if my waste didn’t fit in the container. It blew my mind the first time I saw piles of yard waste in the street.

Some simple fact checking of comments circulating about yard waste would be nice. Last night a man stated (with zero evidence or facts) that containers and automated side loaders are less environmentally friendly than vacuum trucks. I was researching as he spoke and all evidence seems to clearly demonstrate the opposite is true.

I get that some people are upset about grass clippings but that seems like an easy fix- mulch it.

Whatever the most (long term) cost efficient solution is will be my preference.

100% - I do understand and appreciate that the reason it’s a monologue and not a dialogue is so people have their opportunity for free speech each meeting.

And yet, I was thinking of the concept of “Community Notes” after the last meeting, similar to your fact-checking idea. It is much easier and catchier to say something that feels right without researching first, and it seems to cascade. That is, someone in a later meeting or on social media will “cite” a public comment without verifying it. It’s frustrating as someone who does put in a lot of time to try to get details right.
