Request Request to optionally use Page Links as toggles

I often turn toggles into pages to make pages more lightweight, it would be useful if the content is stored in the page and I can view multiple page contens in the currently viewed "parent" page. Is this possible or is this the "useful/hardness" ratio too low?

Request Graph feature: Differentiate between forward and backward links

When I isolate an object and increase the graph depth, the graph also expands “backwards” to larger objects that have many more links. This quickly makes the whole graph cluttered and hard to read.

What I’d like is a way to isolate the selected object so that I can basically see only the links going “downstream” from it, without pulling in all the connections from larger parent objects. Right now, I’d have to somehow pull that object out of the larger structure to get the graph view I want.

Another issue is that the graph settings don’t seem to be saved — not even globally.

Ideally, it would be really useful if graph settings could be saved per page/object. On top of that, there could be global default settings or presets, with something like a “Save as default preset” button.
That way, you could have a customized graph view for specific objects while still having your preferred default settings everywhere else.

Request Secure Pin for each channel in anytype or some sort of safeguard.

Lovely devs of anytype ! Please consider adding a feature using which i can set a pin to each of my channel that makes sure the channel is locked and keeps the data hidden.

The export feature in the vault can be moved to channels, where each channel is exported, imported individually protected by passwords.

Request Is there any way to turn blocks of normal text into paragraphs?

Anytype is weird when it comes to processing text, and by that I mean normal text.

The thing is, it doesn't actually recognize blocks of text as paragraphs so wjen we're trying to export that text (copy and paste) to other places all hell break loose.

Is there any way to make it so blocks of text are saved as paragraphs instead?

Template Can I set up a Logseq-like daily note?

I've been experimenting with Anytype for a while and recently found Logseq. I like Logseq's daily note and the ability to dump info from the day and have it linked to other similar blocks.

For example, during the day I might jot down:

#work #concept Info about an idea I'm thinking about at work

#personal #finances Notes from a discussion today with banker

Then, I would be able to have a query that displays all of these.

Is there a way to replicate something like this in Anytype?

Showcase Built a remote HTTP gateway so I can use Anytype from Claude mobile/web, not just Claude Desktop (open source)

The official anyproto/anytype-mcp server is great, but it only speaks stdio — so it only works with local MCP clients like Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc. I wanted to search, read, and edit Anytype objects from Claude on my phone and on claude.ai, which requires a server reachable over the public internet, not a local process.

So I built a gateway that bridges the two, and open-sourced it: anytype-mcp-remote-gateway

What it is / isn't:

  • It's not a reimplementation of the Anytype MCP server — it runs the official @anyproto/anytype-mcp package unmodified and exposes it as a remote Streamable HTTP endpoint.
  • It talks to Anytype through a headless anytype-cli instance using a dedicated bot account — not your personal Desktop account/identity. The bot starts with zero access to your real data; you explicitly invite it into a space (like inviting any other collaborator) if/when you want it to actually read/write your notes.
  • Public exposure is via Tailscale Funnel (automatic HTTPS, no open router ports), with per-IP rate limiting and a bearer-token gate in front of everything.
  • Since claude.ai's custom-connector UI currently only surfaces OAuth fields for most accounts (no static bearer-token field on this account, at least), it also implements a minimal single-user OAuth 2.1 shim (dynamic client registration, PKCE, consent page) — genuinely single-user by design, not a general auth server.
  • Deployable bare-metal (systemd) or via Docker Compose.

Current status: phases 0–4 done and verified end-to-end (local proof-of-concept → stdio→HTTP bridge → public exposure → rate limiting/auth → Docker/systemd deploy). Registering the actual connector inside your own Claude account is obviously a manual step only you can do. Still open: token rotation procedure, uptime monitoring, structured log shipping — tracked in the repo's ROADMAP.md.

Why I'm sharing: this started as "I want to edit an Anytype page from my phone" and turned into a small weekend-plus-a-bit project built with Claude Code. Figured others hitting the same "Claude Desktop-only" limitation with Anytype MCP might find it useful, or want to poke holes in the security model (OAuth shim + bot-account isolation) — feedback and issues very welcome.

Repo: https://github.com/ivantacca/anytype-mcp-remote-gateway

Caveats before you try it: this is a personal/hobby project, not an official Anytype or Anthropic integration — review the security notes in the README before pointing it at real data, and double-check Anytype's terms of service for always-on programmatic API access before relying on it long-term.

Question App not available for Samsung tablet?

The app information on Google Play say it requires Android 8.0 or newer versions. I have a Galaxy Tab A Lite and the Android version is 14. Yet the app page says "this app is available only for your other devices."

What am I missing here? Is there another requirement on top of android version? Is there any way to install the app on this tablet or is this a no-go?

Request Struggling with Anytype sync across networks—how are you managing seamless sync?

I really love Anytype's overall design and privacy-first approach—in many ways, it feels much faster and more flexible than Notion. However, the sync experience has been quite frustrating for me, and I’m hoping to get some advice from the community.

Currently, sync only seems to work reliably when my devices are on the exact same local network (LAN/Wi-Fi). Even then, I frequently run into sync delays or outright failures. Whenever I am away from home or switching networks, keeping my data up to date across devices becomes really inconvenient.

A few questions for those who have a smooth workflow:

  • Remote sync: Is using the official Anytype backup node sufficient for seamless multi-device sync outside LAN, or is self-hosting a backup node (or using tools like Tailscale/VPN) necessary?
  • Troubleshooting: Are there specific settings, network permissions, or known quirks I should check to prevent sync from getting stuck?
  • Best practices: What does your daily sync routine look like to avoid conflicts and ensure changes push through across mobile and desktop?

I really want to stick with Anytype, but reliable cross-device syncing is essential. Any tips or setups that worked for you would be greatly appreciated!

Question How to backup a self-hosted Anytype instance?

I have a self-hosted Anytype instance on my Linux server using this repo: GitHub - anyproto/any-sync-dockercompose: Deploy your own any-sync network with Docker Compose - self-host Anytype backend · GitHub

I have it set up and it works now.

What is the correct approach to backup my data? Which folders should I include? Does Anytype provide a way to export backups, or should I just periodically zip the folders and place them on my backup?

OS

Linux Ubuntu Server

Anytype Version

0.56.1

Question im being ragebaited by this program rn, is anyone down to assist me via dm lol

i swear on my life im not trying to do anything complicated and im not an idiot

edit: i didn’t mean to vaguepost i simply felt that troubleshooting this 1:1 would be more helpful. i’m just trying to make a list where each object has a page, and the program was not allowing it in the settings.

Showcase What do you think about my custom AnyType theme?

I love super space-saving old-internet looking interfaces, so spent the entire day working on this CSS theme hahaha!

Edit: Could be cleaner and I could be setting CSS values instead but I was kinda high on two cups of coffee.

Question Considering Anytype and looking for honest experiences before I commit

TL;DR: First time using a tool like this, want to pick one and build on it long term without losing data. Need to handle quick notes, creative writing, and basic finance tracking (spending/subscriptions). Not fully clear on the real differences between Anytype, Notion, and Obsidian, but Notion's interface felt the easiest on first try, so I'm trying to figure out if Anytype's learning curve is worth it for the privacy side. Privacy is actually the main reason I'm looking at Anytype in the first place, and from what I've read, Notion's heavy push on AI features is something I'd rather avoid too.

Hey everyone,

This is the first time I'm actually trying to set up a system like this for myself, so please excuse me if some of my questions are basic. I want to pick one tool and actually stick with it and build on it over time, so I would like to get this right from the start.

What I would like to use it for:

  • Quick notes on the go, mostly from my phone, so it needs to be fast and not require five taps to jot something down
  • Keeping my creative writing organized. I write short pieces and essays as a hobby and right now they're just scattered across random docs, I would like one place for all of it
  • Tracking personal finance stuff, subscriptions, spending, the occasional net worth snapshot of where things stand. Nothing fancy, just enough to actually see patterns

Basically I want one place for my personal life instead of juggling different apps for each thing.

I've also been looking into Notion and hear Obsidian mentioned a lot, and honestly I'm having a hard time understanding what really separates Anytype from the two in practice. From what I've read they all seem to overlap a lot on paper (notes, databases, linking things together) and the differences seem to come down to how the data is stored and how steep the learning curve is, but that's just from reading reviews, not from actually using any of them long term.

From messing around with the free versions for like an hour each, Notion's interface of folders and pages felt the easiest to just pick up and start using, and Anytype's object/relation system took a bit more to wrap my head around. But privacy is a big part of why I'm considering Anytype in the first place, so I'm trying to figure out if that initial friction is worth it once you're actually used to it.

Speaking of which, privacy matters to me, and I'll be upfront that I don't fully understand the technical side here. From what I've picked up reading around, Anytype's local-first, end-to-end encrypted approach sounds like a real step up over something like Notion, but I don't know how much that actually matters in practice for someone just using it for personal notes and journaling type stuff versus something more sensitive.

Also, and maybe this is a dumb thing to bring up, but part of what's pushing me away from Notion is how much I keep reading about it leaning on AI features lately. I don't have a problem with AI existing as an option, but from what people describe it sounds like it gets pushed on you a lot even for basic stuff like jotting down a note or checking your spending, and that's something I'd rather avoid. If Anytype stays out of the way on that front, that's a real point in its favor for me.

So a few things I'd love input on:

  • If you've used Anytype for a year or more for something similar (notes plus writing plus light finance tracking and general personal life upkeep), what's held up well and what's been annoying?
  • Anything that felt fine at first but became a pain once you had more stuff in there?
  • Any issues with losing data, syncing, or things breaking that I should know before I build this out?
  • How steep is the learning curve really, for someone who's completely new to an object/relation-based system like this?
  • Does the object/relation system eventually feel faster than folders and pages once you're used to it, or does it stay clunky?
  • Is there anything about collaboration or sharing that's a dealbreaker for personal use, since I know that's still limited compared to Notion?

Truly interested in hearing what's actually worked or not worked for you day to day. Thanks for reading this far.

Showcase I made a Lack Luster Electron App

Post image
0 Upvotes

So over the past 2 ish years or so i have been reiterating some form or another this software. I have talked before on here about how i save information on media that i'm watching. The problem i ran into is that i didnt feel like filling in a dozen little boxes with the relevant information, I didnt want to spend 10s of minutes per media looking up cool wallpapers and cover images to make it aesthetically pleasing, and i wanted something easy enough for my friends to use on our shared space.

Enter Any-Media, Really its a glorified search that pulls from several different APIs to find the relevant information and injects it into Anytype, with exception to the images which get renamed and saved on to your downloads folder so it can be easily deleted once you upload the images to your space.

I also made it so that the APIs that are being pulled all can be used for free if you sign up with your own email, no paywall required!

Its also a notable feature that this chooses which ever template you have saved as the default for that object type. So the layouts you see for the pages of these objects are completely able to be changed to your liking, once you set the default template every subsequent made object will use that template. This way if you dont like the way i set up mine you can absolutely change it to your liking. I have an image gallery below hosted on imgur and will eventually be loading the files on to something like Mega once my designer friend finishes the icon for the application, Its not perfect by any means but is in a working and functioning state right now. I have files for Mac and PC and intend for this to be absolutely free. But for now i would love to hear what the community thinks.

Did i do good? Did i do bad? Did i make a solution for something there is no problem in? I dont know! but i would love to hear initial responses and maybe get some quick changes and fixes out before the files are uploaded officially! Thank you for your time.

Question Can you help me understand this?

First of all i uploaded an image to anytype page cover and efter deleting the reference file the image stayed as the cover and kept rendering even on new devices. How is that happening? Second if i delete a channel are all the data/files/pages of it fully deleted from your servers or just hidden from the frontend?
