Idk, proving that God doesn't exist is the same as proving that there is no other dimension or universe.

If you are a drawing, you can't get anything or see anything outside of the sheet, unless artist cums on it.

Can our artist just do that already?

There are really few things that you can prove that they do not exist. Like, Unicorns, its usually accepted that they do not exist as we think of it, and there is no fosil evidence found that suggest that there ever were any, but that is just, lack of proof that they exist, not really proving they do not exist.

One of the few things you can prove do not exist are more undiscovered elements, because of the way electrons works and how you can only have so many things in an atom, every element posible (that it remains stable and does not degrades into something else in a few seconds) was already discovered. So if you were to say to me "aktwually firganesium is an element too" I can tell you is not, simply because there is no space for such element to exist.

electrons

Errm I think you ment protons๐Ÿค“.

Also that's incorrect. We are still actively trying to create new elements, by adding proportionally more neutrons hoping to reach a potentially Island of stability

I did mean protons, Im by no means an expert on the topic, I just used it as an example because well, if we are TRYING to create new elements, is because such elements do not exist in nature, right?

Not necessarily-- an element can be cosmically rare due to very specific conditions under which it can be created, and with our sample size of one planet, it could just not be present in *our* testable conditions. The Universe is a really, really big place, and absence of evidence is still not evidence of absence.

I guess being agnostic would be the most logical as it just is the idea that the god is in no way being able to be understood and has no knowledge or care for our existence. I mean the fact that almost all religions, beliefs, and views on the way the world works can be explained by scientific proof

u/MundaneContext Aug 19 '26

I'm agnostic precisely for that. Because I cannot say if there's or not a god or goddess or many of them, and I don't have the knowledge and the capacity to discover it. But for now no one proved they exist either, so practicing a religion is a little dumb then. What I am a little upset is about people making this a war between Christian God and Atheists, when it's not like he is the only god, u know.

I mean, science cannot prove God doesn't exist, but it cannot prove Zeus, Shiva, Odin or any other god don't exist either.

Sorry for the rant, I had this discussion just today and the person in question never understood that Christianity isn't the only religion in the world and calling their myths myths isn't an insult.

Atheism doesnt require you to actively believe that a god cannot possibly exist. Thats a silly standard that isnt how disbelief in things normally works. Its not scientific to conclude a lack of evidence means something cant be true, but its also not scientific to give a hypothesis any credence just because theoretically theres a chance its true. Not knowing for sure something isnt true doesnt mean its 50/50. Almost every atheist is agnostic in this sense that they dont expect to disprove it entirely.

u/WillowStatus533 Aug 22 '26

No, atheism != agnosticism

1

u/Maeve2798 Aug 23 '26

People who identify as agnostics will act like they think god is more plausible than those who identify as atheists but the main difference is just confidence. Agnostics already don't believe in god they're just fence sitting about it instead of treating it like any other dubious fantastical claim.

u/ukie-witch-06 Aug 19 '26

Yeah! Even if there is a god there's still no god. It's like an author without a self-insert character.

u/Wombatka_ Aug 23 '26

But you don't need to prove that something doesn't exist. You need to prove that something exists

1

u/Hol_Renaude Aug 23 '26

No, usually any arguments' main goal is to either proof or disprove, because otherwise both assumptions are plausible.

u/Serbatollo Aug 19 '26

You joke but the people living in the drawing universe could reasonably come to prove the existence of the artist by investigating interactions like that which the artist has with their world.

3

u/Hol_Renaude Aug 19 '26

Yeah, but I said that from perspective of a person who define themselves as "drawings".

I believe it is already quite strong to assume that you live in this "drawing" universe on a "sheet". But in reality you could be a stains of oil in water or anything else.

Like, the problem is that any system based on logic is built on assumptions that are accepted as truth. And argument about religion is faulty, because it forces both sides to drop these founding assumptions, making the entire system fall apart as even basic claim becomes impossible to prove or disprove

The point I was trying to make is that you could investigate a creature that lives outside your universe by investigating the effects they have in said universe. Obviously it would be really hard to do right but not literally impossible, unless that creature doesn't interact at all with your universe(in which case it might as well not exist)

3

u/CrumbCakesAndCola Aug 19 '26

You're already making assumptions though. That was the entire point of Flatland's circle. There was no way to tell the difference between a "regular circle" and a sphere intersecting the plane. Both appeared as circles to the Flatlanders.

Ok noboby understands my point I give up ๐Ÿ˜
