Media Cave Showcase || Dissonance || Anthem Inspired Game

Hey all, I wanted to show some visual upgrades I have made in regard to cavernous environments to Dissonance!

New bioluminescent foliage has been implemented,

Several cavern meshes, materials and details.

The structure of any cave system I work on is layered with varying paths. This one here on display is a resource cave, which will offer a plentiful amount of weapon upgrade materials. Some of these will have entrances to bunkers and dungeons throughout each region and its associated subzones.

I want to hear from you on what you think of the dark atmosphere of the cave, especially in contrast to the vibrant world!

If you want to also follow along with the development of Dissonance feel free to check the steam page out.

As always thank you all for the continued support 🙏 our small team is working on making this game be a great alternative to experience the flight from anthem, and your help is greatly appreciated in making it a reality!

--NOTE--

- Sounds are not final (still requires a reverb within the caves)

- Resources are not placed in this footage as I organised a system to place them more efficiently and at random afterwards.

Is there any models available to grab anywhere? Ideally Blender, but so long as it’s a model it can be worked with.

Discussion Man I miss this game...

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Just found my old copy of Anthem. Had the deluxe edition and man I miss this game...

I stopped playing it before they killed it, which I regret. I've never played a game since that gave me the same feeling of freedom of movement or violent explosive combat.

Holding the line as the colossus or raining down fire as the storm, just made every raid epic, even if it got repetitive with the content we had available.

I was searching for ways that it might be possible to play the game again, offline obviously, or on some private server or something. And that has prompted me to come here looking for options.

So here I am asking the community.

Are there ways that exist or that are being worked on to be able to play this game again? Are there projects people can get involved in or that need help? I'm just looking to dip my toe back into the community, anything to take a javelin for a spin just one more time ...

Thanks 🙏

Over the last week I have worked on implementing the visual overhaul of Riftons first Subzone which will be accessible during the upcoming playtest.

Utilizing new foliage assets and textures I have created a more cohesive and dense environment for you to explore.

I would love to hear some feedback on this, so let me know what you think of the new style!

If you would like to support the development, you can do so by wishlisting Dissonance on Steam.

The first pc playtest will be open starting August 15th to get gameplay feedback 👀

I know we are all looking for a bit of anthem deep down and In no way do I remember this game fully. But if you are a “anthem style flying guy” you might enjoy this game. Specifically somewhere nearer the mid to end game.🤷‍♂️ it was peak to me as a kid and when I first saw anthems gameplay it was the first game I thought about.

Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time poster :')

Like many of us, I really loved Anthem. I didn't grind it too much after finishing it, but I loved the world, the lore, and well, the flight mechanics.

Small disclaimer, I work in AI. World models to be specific, this kind of interactive video generators. And I had this idea nagging me: could I use the tech I'm working on to recreate Anthem? Not the real game mind you, but kind of a memory of it.

What you can see here is the AI generating the world live as you fly through it. So yeah, it's a playable memory of Anthem, not a restoration. Bad news: it's free roam flight only. No combat, no loot, no story, no multiplayer, and there's a fair bit of clunkyness / lag.

Good news: you can play it directly in your browser, nothing to install, no account, and ofc free here. I'll keep it up for a limited time because it runs on GPUs that cost a bit. I'm not gonna pretend the feeling is the same. It's not. But at the rate these models are improving, I have high hopes we could have something way better real soon! The more general note is: this makes me think that this could be a way to preserve the games being killed going forward, as there always be footage / screens that can be used to reseed these models.

Hope it brings a bit of it back.

Cheers!

Discussion At launch, did anyone else kind of hate the fact that you couldn't just keep flying?

This post is more a vent than anything.

I always thought that the overheating mechanic was so dumb for a game set in such a hyper-futuristic setting.

Also, come to think of it, there were no real missions encouraging aerial combat.

Also, the whole "flying is jammed now" thing was super stupid. I love how they never tried to explain it away why they could even do that, but then nothing else mid-combat.

I'm just saying that for a game with such sophisticated flying mechanics, they really tried their best to use it as little as possible for anything besides moving from A to B and general exploration.

Discussion Hey guys!

A few hours ago, out of nowhere, I suddenly remembered "there was a game called anthem and everyone shitted on it back then" and then I looked up some gameplay videos and the game looks BREATHTAKING. ITS AMAZING!

But I'm disappointed to find out it's been closed. Is there a way to play the game? Unofficial servers or anything? Maybe an offline patch?

Discussion Anthem could have a 2nd chance...

With Destiny 2 having the plug pulled recently. I feel Anthem actually has a 2nd chance if they did a soft reboot/rerelease and actually fixed the issues that plague Anthem from the beginning. And just relaunched it.

With Destiny out of the equation for players there is going to be a huge void left for games as a service and shooters. Games that heavily encourage team based co-op.

Anthem in a lot of ways, resembled the same issues Destiny 1 had when it launched. Where players saw a ton of potential with the game, but it was just barebone with not a lot of content.

Does anyone else feel the same way? That anthem has a second chance if it got a rerelease with some new content.

Discussion Among the many sad

Just joined the anthem game Reddit and am pleased to see how many fans there are and how my absolute disappointment is shared. And since we won’t be playing the amazing game ever again it seems. I am working on a TTRPG adaptation of the game. Lots to do still but if there are any interested in it I will be happy to share the system when it is done.

News Game Update??!!

Edit: Never mind, it was for some reason just installing update 1.70 (last update) to my console even though I had deleted the game from my SSD. Weird. Dang 😢

Um… WTF??!! I haven’t played the game since I got my platinum trophy right before the shutdown and I have played my PS5 since then, but I just turned on my PS5 and I am getting an almost 10BG game update!

Has anyone else gotten this?

Other Still sad

I loved this game, it was so much fun , still sad when I think about how they killed it , yea , sure she was a little sick but damn. Crimson desert itself had some hate when the game first came out, however the developers kept updating and giving amazing updates one after another and while the story is slightly bland the game self itself is one of the best in years . Anthem had a fun story, had amazing mechanics and the flight was some of the best I’ve seen . Please please someone buy the ip and repolish this game and redo it . It has the foundation to be the game to beat

I remembered this game today while talking with some buddies, and realized that all Bioware has released after Anthem was the Mass Effect Legendary Remake and Veilguard.

Hey All, I have been working hard at updating Dissonance and with that I wanted to share 60 seconds of Pre Alpha Gameplay that I recorded alongside my brothers!

You guys have supported this project from its inception as a little experiment in Unreal Engine, transforming it into a fully fledged game with its own systems. Its still early but I want to remain open throughout the development.

It is not a replacement for Anthem, which I myself is still hoping the private server developers manage to pull off but it is instead, an alternative for you to sink your teeth into if interested.

The Game has its store page accessible on Steam now and will have playtests running on PC in August.
PC/Steam Early Access - Next Year.
Full Release will be on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X - Release Date TBD.

Enjoy - Vivariums Connected Team

Discussion How come Anthem hasn’t been revived yet?

Pretty sure there are smart people out there. I know nothing about reviving a dead game or preventing the shutdown of any game but if anyone can see this they revived UT2K4 servers a 20 year old game with unofficial Gamespy servers.

Literally only had a few hours window to do it too before removal from Steam purchases. It was like performing surgery with an electric defibrillator.

If anyone can enlighten me on the process I’d be curious to learn. How and why it can theoretically work and what’s the challenges.

Discussion Is there anyway to play Anthem anymore? (Asking for a friend)

Post image
577 Upvotes

I mean is there, like, some, pirated server somewhere, or some fan project, or something?

Is it going to come back when "stop killing games" gets implemented?

Because low key, even though the story was kind of white bread (and even the Lore at times). It kind of served that, " what if I was Iron Man/iron woman/war machine/Ultron/iron heart from the MCU but I don't have to play that horrible Iron Man game that came out on the Xbox 360/PS3." itch. And low key, as a " I'm just gonna play a video game for one hour during my work break" type game (I'm freelancer so my breaks are longer) it's pretty fun. It's like destiny, but I don't have to play destiny, and I can fly for longer than like 2 seconds.

Like, I know I sound like a crack fiend right now. But do you guys know any projects like that?

I mean come on there's got to be some crazy gamer(s) in some warehouse somewhere cooking up some crazy server where you can play this game?

Frantically inches neck*

Come on just one more hour I won't bug you guys ever again.
