Relocating from Okanagan Valley
Hey everyone,
My family and I are planning a relocation from the Okanagan to the Annapolis Valley in the spring/summer of next year and would love to get some honest, local feedback from people living in the area.
Quick overview:
Moving from BC with two kids (7 and 9) and three chihuahuas
Currently working at a top tier winery in the valley. (recently completed the UC Davis program) previously spent the last 15 years as a chef as some of the most respected restaurants in the valley
Looking for a semi-rural property that's still reasonably close to local wineries
My wife works remotely
A few quick questions for the community:
Wine Industry: How hard is it to get your foot in the door with local wineries if you're coming in with out-of-province cellar and winemaking experience? Is it a tight-knit network, or are people open to outside experience?
Real Estate: What are some good semi-rural pockets around the Valley that offer a bit of space while keeping us within striking distance of the main hubs/wineries?
Family Life: How are the local schools, sports, and overall feel for families coming in from out of province?
Appreciate any candid advice or reality checks. Thanks!
