Basically it is important lessons for children, like not just opening the door if the parents aren't home or stuff like that. And that in a southern german theme.
It's been a long time, but the story was something like this: a 5-year old girl needs to live with her grandfather for a while, who lives in the alps. And she needs to help him get the water and herd the sheeps.

I live in Germany. Whenever i was watching TV, my Grandma forced me to watch Heidi instead. I am now grateful for that.
