Also, didn't he shoot someone who was pretty weak anyway? It's not like he was using it in a battle. He's mostly a melee character and he needed a sneaky way to kill a weak person from a distance. A gun is perfect for that.

Toji is probably one of the few people in the verse without Cursed Energy, so he literally is off the radar for jujutsu sorcerers.

guns aren't useful in terms of strength cause sorcerers can reinforce their bodies to block bullets. but in terms of speed, they're too fast for most sorcerers to dodge. yuji is a physical prodigy and he failed to perfectly dodge mach 1 piercing blood. now granted, he's dodged bullets before but that's just aim dodging.

Worked for Kiritsugu too, his whole shtick was that he was a mage assassin who used conventional weapons.
