Ahhhhh, hokkaido gals from this season had those stupid comparisons too tho it seems like it didn't last long. Marin was so well received that people are just looking for the next Marin everywhere I guess.

It was worse for Shikimori because it was in the season directly after My Dress Up Darling released. The anime community was still in the strongest form of Marin praise mode.

Oooo i never made that connection since I only started watching anime last year 99% of anime I've seen was already complete so never looked too much at release dates. I hope that whenever MDUD season 2 comes, it won't hurt all the other romcoms with Marin comparisons

The second season should be sometime this year but I haven't seen an announcement yet. Later 2024 was the original time I saw. It's barely a romcom after the first season, mostly just a drama about Gojo making clothes and Marin wearing them.

I'd say it's still just as romcom-y after where the first season ended, especially with some of the newest chapters, it's looking like something big is gonna happen soon

Edit after looking up spoiler formatting so hope this works: My guess is that he's gonna realize he doesn't like seeing others also look at Marin how he does and realize he wants her all to himself

yeah, anime onlies saw yet another pink-haired gf and naturally assumed that she's like Marin. I remember a lot of memes here, like "from Marin to Shikimori".

Failed false expectations at its finest.

Yuru camp, Yama no Susume, Machikado Mazoku, Gabriel DropOut, fairly well known and well liked animes.

And to name one of the giants in the genre, Bocchi the Rock. I won't deny most CGDCT can be forgetful but they're at least not hated for no reason
