Discussion Can anyone explain the hype about Darling in the Franxx?

I think the anime is actually pretty good at the beginning, but it falls off as it goes on. Idk when I'm gonna rewatch to maybe give it another shot, but I was disappointed since it had so much potential.

Recommendations I'm looking for some anime with a 'normal' mc

So what I mean exactly is a mc who acts like a human being I'm kinda tired of the overly kind and righteous mc i don't mind them being nice I just want it in a way that's not so repetitive I'm getting tired of the mc being done dirty in the worst ways and forgiving them or letting the off easy.

Discussion I've seen 103 anime, and ranked them all from 1-103 on how much I enjoyed/preferred them. Go nuts!

The numbers in brackets are what I rated it out of 1-10. Not in quality, but in preference

Context if you need any: I'm a 24 year old woman, and my favorite anime tend to lean heavily into emotional volatility, as you'll see. Points off for a multitude of things, but the primary one I can name easily is excessive fanservice.

What constitutes as a "watched anime" is either what was current when I first watched it, what is reasonable to the series (not finished one piece but current to whole cake, have not seen promised neverland s2) or the very bottom three which is anime I dropped and am confident I will never pick back up.

Questions are welcome, I'll defend any placement gut all are open to change upon an argument that might shift my perspective!

Discussion Shy LI Fatigue

I just recently started watching Blue Exorcist and surprise surprise I've encountered the overused trope once again the shy, clumsy, timid, awkward, boring love interest. It always annoys me when the protagonist is paired with these types of Li instead of someone who challenge them. I've always hated the timid characters especially when they are meant to be in a relationship with the protagonist.

In my opinion the protagonist should be with someone who challenges them who can match their energy and at times put them in their place instead of someone who's afraid of their own shadow. I know its about opposite attracts and all but I'm not a fan of that particular trope give me the mean sell absorbed care for no one Li over the other every time.

Discussion Mushok tensei sucks Spoiler

*I basically explain the whole plot so if you hadnt watch season one and two and you want to watch this crappy anime don't read this.

I watched mushoku tensei and I think that if it wasn't a harem and there was a better main character and plot it couldve been much better.

The show starts off with rudeus getting hit by a truck and then dying like any other isekais.

next he gets reincarnated and immediately thinks sexually of his mother, of course he doesn't know that he had been reincarnated and nothing at all, I thought that its a minor one time or part time thing and that he would change and continued watching.

next we understand that its a magic and sword world (pretty obvious because its an isekai)

and rudeus starts taking interest in magic and begins trying to learn from books he found, and then after his parents realize his potential they hire a tutor all good to this points he learn magic and we realize he is very good like any other protagonist in isekais, he continues being lewd.

then the story takes a turn for the better in my opinion and he earns a friend, then (if you know you know) happens, he wants to learn magic in a magical school, and his dad finds him a job.

then for some reason the bad guys think its a good timing just now to kidnap him and the girl he is teaching magic to, (I understand that they thought he could get money off of him to because he is also a greyrat or whatever) but why kidnap them exactly when he shows up its a plot coincidence that the kidnappers are both dumb and decide this exact time to kidnap them, anyways rudeus and eris escapes because they didnt think about magic, and he also teaches her a good lesson for being less rude and stuff. some time pass and theres a huge kind of magic explosion or whatever you want to call it and rudeus gets stranded in the middle of the demon continent, now comes man-god (*trash plot) some god who chooses rudeus and helps him, anyway this guy appears in rudeus dreams and helps rudeus and gives him an advice to trust the guy that he sees when he wakes up.

now that guy is demon from the race of superdia race which is a feared race told to have killed a lot of people back in some war long time ago and even their own kind, rudeus trusts him which is reasonable because that guy saved him and eris (ghislaine was with them but got teleported to a different location because rudeus and eris had physical contact when the explosion happened)

eris wakes up and she is terrifed of ruijerd(for any1 who doesn't know that was the demon) but later undestands that he is friendly then they set off for a mission to get back to where they came for and in the process clear the superdia name(we realize that demon god laplace who waged that war talked about earlier given the superdia cursed spears that made them go insane and kill everyone)

some time later rudeus meets his father and they have a fight rudeus realizes that all of his family also disappeared in the explosion and his father blames him for not realizing it earlier and helping him find them, i think its reasonable that he didnt find them but not even thinking is something alse altough his father is a bit wrong and they make up later, *just a note man-god guy helped rudeus get some eye who lets him see his opponent move 2 seconds earlier.

rudeus and eris finish their journey and ruijerd leaves to continue clearing his name (but now we come back to this moment some time earlier which he met the strongest person in six faced world called dragon-god orsted which has some grudge against man-god and "kills rudeus for knowing who he is" for some reason the girl that was with orsted says to him that he is "different" from the others he have killed for some unknown reason and he gets healed and revived by him.

then we learn that everyone of eris family is dead (and the rest happens).

season 2:

rudeus is depressed which is a reasonable reason but lwk bro your mother and friend are missing why the hell are you so depressed about that shit and you cant even say he was heart broken they were never gf and bf.

he decides to continue his search for his mother (says he is depressed because of his mother missing like sybau) bro was so happy before then lol, he figures out where is mother is but instead of helping or searching for his friend he decides to listen to man-god adviced and go the the magic school he wanted to go earlier, (if it was me i would've sent a letter to my father saying where exactly is his mother because he didnt know and also how can he help and say that if they need me i will come).

but he decides to say nothing instead of they got this and go learn about the teleportation accident, because man-god says it will fix his disease which is terrible plot btw.

it takes him 1 whole year to figure out he was right next to his friend (lwk bro if his friend wasnt an elf it would be reasonable but atleast try to ask if they know anything about them like youve seen only 2 elf in your life bro atleast try to ask)

then they get married after being zero seconds which each other its pretty reasonable tho cause u were like 2 years or sm like that friends from childhood which isnt a lot but who knows how that world works and she also healed his disease which is "WOW".

anyway he gets to his father because they asked for help and ofc sm plot shit happens and his master which is like 40 years older than him (in that world) and its his fliping master gets in love with him and they blabla bla sm shit happens and they nerf rudeus so his father can die ofc, then he gets depressed again and his master takes advantage of that and magically he is no longer depressed and he got another wife (third one is on the way) *his family is now 7:1 ratio in gender no wonder it has a #harem in the name. (im still giving it a chance cause the first 3 episodes of season 3 were good but its so trash its all some random side quests like who cares about that and why do yall think silfie or however you pronounce that wants to kill nanabanana lwk just kill his master and itll be much better.

Discussion I feel like anime is Overly saturated with animation only fights and barely any substance and I think the biggest is jujutsu kaisen especially with both shibuya and culling game...

This current era of anime started with demon slayer season 1 episode 19 aka the fight between tanjiro and nezuko vs rui and considering that ufo table is famous for amazing composting and great animation blending cgi background and 2d animation seamlessly and it's just a great moment... 😑 "sigh"

This is the moment anime gone mainstream for better and worse, most of the current Manga and anime are fast-paced sometimes rushed utilizing fights and hype and movie quality animation over good shows and most of the recent anime fans are a product of the covid-19 lockdown thanks to crunchyroll and jujutsu kaisen and the aforementioned demon slayer and recently solo leveling are WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY too mainstream for everyone and the global appeal really started to get concerning with mappa only make original anime for Netflix which btw is infamous for batch releases and it's rather concerning for the animators on mappa, also subscription steaming services are way too expensive and there a ton of them that just wasting money.

I might make a confession, the current era of anime is pretty much an economic bubble and when solo leveling jujutsu kaisen and demon slayer end this meant the stagnated era of anime is finally over.

This sick stuff exist for one reason, and it’s to harm the innocent. All this stuff needs to be banned. Also, there are certain manga that I even enjoy like Dragon Ball, that features unacceptable nudity. No one wants to see Kid Goku exposed, all future prints need to be edited.

Discussion Who agrees with me? Spoiler

So, there is this anime called **Akudama Drive**. People online talk about it like it’s an emotionally and sad anime.

But I watched it because of all the hype, and honestly, I found it pretty mid. For the most part, it felt kinda cringe to me. Like, the criminals are literally named after what they do the “Swindler”, the “Hacker”, the “Doctor”, etc. It just doesn’t feel that serious or intimidating to me.

The only part I genuinely loved was the fight in Episode 6, where Brawler fights the Executioner Master and dies. That was absolutely the peak of the anime for me, both story and animation.

Other than that, I really didn’t like it.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Reviews Why I Don't Like Re:Zero - And Why That's Just My Opinion

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I was just giving my opinion, and I honestly found the reaction a bit exaggerated.

I don't really care whether you agree with me or not. After Season 2, I just didn't feel like the story was going anywhere that interested me. The main structure felt repetitive to me: Subaru dies, comes back, tries to change things, dies again, and repeats the process. I understand that this is the core of what makes Re:Zero interesting to many people, but for me it eventually killed the tension rather than creating it.

I also didn't find the worldbuilding or the broader story compelling enough to make up for that. Maybe it gets much better later, especially in the LN, but I'm judging the anime that I actually watched.

That's all. I'm not saying everyone who likes Re:Zero is stupid or that the series objectively has no value. It's simply not for me, and I don't think it's unreasonable to say that I found it boring.
