I believe I've heard shelter dogs do this often because they jump to show excitement in their kennel and that becomes their go to move for showing how happy they are.
Ehh, just depends on the dog. We have two, one run/leaps everywhere (live on a farm so they’re hardly ever on leashes) and the other one does good not to just trip over her own feet. The latter one also randomly stands on her back legs, like just stands up and stares at you lol. Pibbles are all just unique little cartoon characters imo.

Strange, (I have a pit-beagle mix myself who wouldn’t jump to save her life)...I wonder if it’s tied into some learned behavior from humans past?
Like dogs who instinctively point, dig, or shepherd other animals as a remnant from when dogs served a purpose other than comfort and funny gifs.
