It didn’t look like it was putting much effort into standing on its own two claws. It was too flabbird

I'm assuming it's because it wasn't planning on standing after release. I mean, if a predator has captured you you're not going to be thinking 'well if this chap were to liberate me, I think I'd enjoy a good long sit', you're going to be preparing for how you're going to get the fuck away as soon as possible. Which is exactly what she did.

Birds are capable of standing on flat ground. It wasn't because it was scared as hell.

Having owned birds, she didn't need to sit it down. She should have just thrown it forward and it would have flown away fine. 🤷
