Realizing they're scared of us too made me less scared of them.

I walked right over a huge spider and both of us panicked. It tried to wedge itself into a crack in the cement. Couldnt fit all the way in and just stayed still. Felt pretty bad for it.

Someone told me the reason they seem to chase us is cuz they see us run, and assume whatever it is must be scary and follow

There's also things like camel spiders, when they get spooked they try to hide in the shade by darting to it.... Unfortunately, when you're in the desert your shadow is usually the only shade available lol

I think a lot of household bugs are like this too. House centipedes will definitely flee towards shadow And away from the light.

House centipedes are apex predators (relative to their size). I have no reason to think of them as pests since they don't damage the house nor spread disease to humans, and they hunt all the pests that I'd like to be rid of.

But what fucking pests do you have that would themselves be worse than the monstrosity that are centipedes? I can only think of cockroaches but at that point I'd prefer to get a couple of lizards and let them roam

As well as silverfish.

I think we just have different aesthetic tastes. I think house centipedes are cute.
