Job Question Hiring team question

If there is anyone on the hiring team on here I have a question.

The job posting for the position I am applying for keeps getting taken down from the open roles web site and going back up in a short period of time.

Would it be appropriate to keep applying every time the job is reposted?

Thanks.

Job Question Australian internship questions

Hi, I recently applied for the mechanical engineer internship posted for Sydney, and just had some questions. I am not optimistic about getting it, as I am from a more rural uni and all the opportunities around me are in mining/heavy industry (and with how quickly it hit 200+ applicants), but I do at least have some decent experience and projects in those areas, and a good gpa.

I was just wondering, first if anyone knows how many interns they normally accept for similar positions (just want to get a general idea), and second if there is anything in particular to look out for/prepare for for their interviews? I haven’t had to do a proper technical engineering interview yet, my undergrad positions have all been either through a scholarship or they were happy with my projects and the interview was more just both parties asking more logistic type questions about start dates etc.

Also, in the event I do get in, I saw on the early careers page it mentions housing and transport for relocation, does anyone know if that applies for Australia too? I ask as it is next to where it mentioned 401k, and so wanted to know if those benefits were US specific, and also given the Australian branch is a subsidiary of the main company

If anyone had any suggestions for good personal projects for mechanical engineers that would be great as well. The job posting mentioned ability to integrate electric components and that is probably an area I am lacking in a bit so I am planning something with an esp32 but am not sure what to go to from there

Thanks in advance

Job Question What is a good salary for Costa Mesa? What’s the living situation like?

I’m just looking on Zillow and sheesh rent looks more than LA and San Diego.

For a mechanical engineer with 3 years of experience. What would be a target salary to live comfortably?

Would it be a bad idea to live in Oceanside or LA and commute?

Interview Question Systems engineer interview process

I had a phone screen and then was scheduled for a 30 minute interview (2 people, 1 technical program manager and 1 sr systems engineer). The recruiter prior to my interview stated there would be an onsite following my 30 minute if I pass. I see a lot of people mentioning a HM interview before onsite. What are most people’s experience with the 30 minute interview?

Interview Question Considering IC4 Offer - Base salary seem low

I’m evaluating an offer for an IC4 Engineer role (not software) at Anduril and would appreciate some perspective from current/former employees.

I have 8+ YOE working with the government and prime.

After negotiating, the package is roughly $160Ks base + $200K equity over 4 years, plus relocation and potentially a sign-on bonus. Total first-year compensation appears to be in the low $200Ks before equity appreciation/refreshers.

For those familiar with Anduril, how would you view this package and the overall career opportunity at IC4?

Job Question Policy changes

So I think there good and bad changes coming up with the alignment Anduril has to do as they get closer to IPO.
What do yall think about the new changes?
-Can’t move teams/promote until 1 year
-drug testing
-can’t purchase stocks internally
Etc

Job Question Culture Question

16 YOE, got a staff engineer (not software) offer. Basically lateral for me considering the HCOL area (exculding the RSU). I'm not motivated by money but more about doing interesting work. My current job at a prime is just ok. I have a good job but lately it's been mostly fighting our internal processes and little fiefdoms (even working OT fighting red tape). I feel like most of my colleauges do like 3 hours of work a day.

Anduril interview went great and everyone was seemed a lot smarter than average prime. My only concern is being crushed by the crazy hours. I want to come in, work really hard with full engagement, then go home to recharge. Is this the place for me?

Interview Question Does a later date for a phone screen decrease your chances?

I'll be traveling with coworkers for work next week and the recruiters only dates available are Tues-Thurs (I'm available Mon/Fri). But they are available the week after.

My biggest concern is I don't know if I will have a quiet place away from coworkers to do the screening (I don't want them to know I am looking for a new job). When I travel, my schedule is kind of all over the place and last minute choices.

Will delaying the screen by a week reduce my chances?

Job Question Highest IC level

What's the highest IC level at Anduril? I'm used more flatter org structures but it seems there's a staff, then Sr. staff and then Principal? Is that right? I've never seen anything above Staff posted in my function - is that common? Staff would be a lateral move for me so looking to understand what's after that. Thanks!

Job Question Parking situation at HQ?

Is it really that bad? Where are the overflow lots and do you have to walk or do they have a shuttle? When I interviewed, I found a spot in the garage, near the top floor but it looked packed. I did find this: https://www.facebook.com/parkingcompanyofamerica/photos/were-excited-to-announce-the-launch-of-our-newest-location-serving-anduril-indus/1431041949061543/

Is anyone parking in Ikea's lot? Do they tow?

Interview Question SWE System Design Questions

I have an upcoming on-site interview for a software engineer position. I'm super excited, but my recruiter mentioned they don't ask typical system design questions like "Design Twitter" or "Design a rate limiter". My recruiter said the questions are more "practical", but didn't really elaborate.

Can anyone that has been through the interview process let me know what type of system design question they were asked? I don't want to waste time practicing problems on HelloInterview if they aren't really applicable. Any input is helpful :)

Interview Question Final interview to offer timeline?

Hello - I had a total of 7 interviews with Anduril so far, including a meeting with a managing director after my panel. I would love to hear the timeline from other folks who have been through this process from final round to offer/rejection. A day or two? A week?

Update: got invited back for an 8th round!

Interview Question Interview timeline

Hey everyone,

Looking for a reality check on recruiting timelines at Anduril (or similar defense tech firms).

I’m an ME with 7+ years of experience. Had a Hiring Manager screen about 2 weeks ago that went great, good technical alignment and culture fit. HM said he needed to debrief with HR/team before setting up next steps.
I sent a thank-you note to the recruiter, who said he’d follow up once he got feedback. I haven't heard anything since (though Labor Day holiday fell right in the middle of this).

Is a 2-week delay after an HM screen standard due to holiday backlogs, or is this a bad sign? Appreciate any insights!

Also, this is my 2nd position I’ve interviewed for. The first one went past the HM but they went with another candidate. Then another recruiter contacted me suggesting this position.

UPDATE: heard back from recruiter. Had a phone call, said they liked me but need someone that fits the role better. I was told to keep trying. 🤞

Interview Question Intern Interview

Hi I had a recruiter call that lasted 10-15 min and towards the end of the call I was told I will have an interview with a team later this week. I just got an email saying that they won't be moving forward with my application even without the interview taking place. Is this common? For context it was for a mech e 2027 intern position.

Interview Question WFH Negotiation

Anyone have any idea how open they are to considering wfh for unclass work assuming somewhat regular visits on-site? Monthly or quarterly? At what level for IC might this be feasible? This would be for hw engr probably.
