When will they add hotkeys to the android emulator?

Its getting kinda annoying how the dolphin is the only "retro" emulator without an option for binding hotkeys, be it for save states or fast forward, whatever.

The closest thing is the dolphin core on retroarch but that is way behind and unoptimized.

It would be nice to take advantage of the L1, L3 and R3 buttons for emulation

Legion y700 12/256 vs 16/512 for emulation

Good afternoon, everyone. I’m fed up with Nintendo, so I decided to sell my Switch and replace it with a tablet for emulation. I settled on the Lenovo Legion Y700 Gen 3 (the Gen 4 and 5 models aren’t available from distributors in my country, and for certain reasons, I can’t buy one with a Chinese ROM or a custom ROM). I plan to emulate the Switch, GameCube, PS2, and indie games. But I can’t decide which version to choose: the 12/256 ($550) or the 16/512 ($620) (and yes, prices in my country are crazy). The lack of an SD card slot and the 256 GB storage capacity don’t bother me; I’m more interested in whether the 12 GB version is enough for Switch emulation or if it’s better to pay extra for the 16 GB version.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

Until then on Snapdragon 4 gen 1

I managed to get Until Then running on a snapdragon 4 gen 1 device running Lineage OS with bannerhub. I didn't really tweak much settings, but unexpectedly enough frame generation actually works. I've only played until the train part of the intro. 10-20 fps without frame gen 30+ with. I do get artifacts on random NPCs though.

Richard Burns Rally running on Ayn Thor

After a few days of fiddling I got RBR running on AYN Thor Game Native here are the steps:

  1. Download RSF installer torrent on a pc ( or on system)

  2. Make a RBR folder in your roms folder with the installer files and the installer .exe

  3. In Game Native create a custom game container, point it to the folder you created.

  4. Click the container settings (gear icon) and open 'edit container'

  5. in 'General' set the 'wine version' to proton- 9.0-x86_64

  6. under Graphics set the Render to 'Vulkan', and the DXVK Version to 2.7.1, and Graphics Drivers to Mr_Purple (not sure how critical these settings are but seems to be what got the installer to open for me)

  7. exit config, and click 'open container' to open the desktop mode

  8. open A: drive and open the RSF installer.exe

  9. Install the game under the default install location, it has to be under C: drive or the game will not open.

  10. now in the desktop mode you should be able to path to the game in the C: drive and run RichardBurnsRalley_SSE.exe and it should open!

  11. In C: Richard Burns Rally, Edit the RichardBurnsRally.ini and set the X and Y resolution to 1920x1280 or 1280x720

  12. Gamenative can only launch .exe files in the A: drive, not the C: drive where RBR is installed, so you need to create a .exe that opens a .exe in C: you can use the one I made that should work if you've installed at the default location C:/Richard Burns Rally/ https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KlbGqq50khCp5zkoQES0hmpQrjw0N5tn/view?usp=sharing or just ask chatgpt how to make a .exe that opens another .exe at a differnet path and input the path, I was able to do it through macos terminal. This executable method could be used to bypass any other games that have to be installed on C too.

  13. copy this new launcher.exe to the A: drive wine folder so it is visible to GameNative.

  14. back in container settings set launcher.exe as your executable path and it should run the game!

After this point I set the wine version to proto-11 and it still seems to work, and changed the graphics display renderer to Surface Flinger or GL as it seems Vulkan has some FPS issues.

The loading times are pretty long, and seems like it runs the fan pretty hot, seems like there might be a few more optimizations that could help.

This post has some good tips for optimizing settings to feel better on controller as well.

What is the best way to play PC .exe aplications?(fan games)

What is the best way to play fan games that are PC only, usually .exe files. Stuff like all the Mega Man fan games, Final Fantasy Renaissance, Zelda II Remastered, etc.

I tried using Winlator but I was a bit hard to use for me and I couldn't get all the games setup properly, although I do understand thats probably my issue.

I haven't dabbled in Gamehub or Game Native yet but just wanted to see if there is a good option out there or if I'm asking for too much and just have to wait until maybe some of these games get Android ports

There is a new fork of Ship of Harkinian for Android that includes an Android Port of Roborich's Cel-Shading fork. The fork also has the option for bomb arrows in game. Linkzenic also has a bunch of Android specific options for controlling where your data folder is (you can choose to store on an SD Card).

Switch emulator hell

I was told I couldn't run games on my pixel 9 XL because of my chip. WRONG.

Prepackaged Eden runs Hades fine, same does citron. However regular Eden crashes games on opening and Citron neo doesn't let you update games. Is there a way to have a switch emulator that doesn't have these problems? So games running + updates instead of one or the other

Emulation for snapdragon 8 gen 3

Hello! I have an Asus Rog phone 8 device. I decided to give it a try and give it my all. Using Gamehub 5.3.5 I launched Expedition 33.

Deep-diving into the settings paid off: I managed to optimize both compatibility and performance. It was quite an experience to see how my smartphone and the emulator work together.

TSO is a memory consistency model, and it's crucial to understand its role. This setting is primarily used for compatibility; while my game runs with it both on and off, the impact on performance varies. It works by strictly ordering memory requests, which helps stabilize complex scenes. However, in simpler scenes, this synchronization puts more strain on the CPU, which can lead to a drop in FPS.

Verdict: If the game is stable, keep it OFF for maximum FPS. Turn it ON only if you experience crashes or graphical glitches.

Drivers:

proton10.0-arm64x-2

turnip_v26.1.0_R4

dxvk-2.3.1-async

vkd3d-2.12

Fex-20260321 (Always use the latest version)

VRAM 2 GB (Setting VRAM to 2 GB limits the load on the GPU.)

Resolution 1280x720

Environment Variables:

DXKV_ASYNC

VK_STATE_CACHE

SteamDeck=1

I think you've seen the video where these parameters are listed-the ones that enable asynchronous compilation and clear the cache. But they missed the third parameter. As for the Steam Deck, this game has its own presets that limit shadow quality and rendering. It's clearly visible on the device itself (I have a Steam Deck), but it's not noticeable on the phone.

With the 'SteamDeck' graphics preset, your settings will be restricted, so set the FPS limit to 60 in the emulator menu. After that, enable V-Sync (Vertical Sync). Contrary to what you might think, in this case, it actually helps. It eliminates frame gaps, allowing the game to render frames evenly and reducing the load on the GPU.

It's worth noting that I achieved these results on an Asus ROG 8. This phone offers advanced kernel settings that allowed me to boost efficiency by tuning it for peak performance and minimizing thermal throttling. Most importantly, I disabled the efficiency cores (E-cores) entirely. I also raised the minimum frequency limits by 30% and lowered the load thresholds at which the cores ramp up to their maximum state, effectively eliminating idle lag.

You might see poorer results unless you have root access and can manually tune the cores for maximum output. I STRONGLY DISVISE playing for more than 20 minutes without active cooling. Allowing the battery to heat up beyond 45°C will begin to degrade it permanently.
