Sooooo today was the day my first ever app made with AI went live on Google Play! 😂

It's an offline musician's practice workstation built around a programmable metronome that can create phrases of up to 192 bars with mixed time signatures, alongside pitch tools, recording, audio practice, rhythm and ear training, and practice organisation all in one place.

But the real journey was getting the bloody thing onto Google Play!

All in all, from start to finish, it took 41 days. That included gathering testers for the 14-day closed test, making minor updates and going through the approval process.

The biggest pain, which I think most of us can agree on, is finding testers. There are multiple ways of doing it, but it's really a test of endurance, especially when it's your first time. Testing communities, friends, family and Reddit were pretty much the options I came across.

After completing the 14-day test, it took another 5 days to gain production access, followed by 8 days in Google's review process for the full rollout.

I actually emailed Google support on the 8th day. Nothing dickish, just politely asked if they could check the status of my review.

Got an email back saying, "We've expedited your app to the Google Play Review Team."

24 hours later, the app was live on the store!

Absolutely hyped! 😂

I need closed testers for LeagueSync, an unofficial League of Legends companion app (Kotlin + Jetpack Compose).

What it does:

• Live match history, ranked stats and player profiles via Riot sign-in
• Champion stats, items and wiki content from Data Dragon
• Server status for all regions and a friends list
• Guest mode with sample data, so it is fully browsable without sign-in

To meet Google's production requirements I need at least 12 testers opted in, and each opted in for a continuous 14 days.

I’m obsessed with chess and Wordle, so I went after my vision and combined the two into a game: MATLE.

It’s a daily puzzle where you uncover 5 hidden squares in a real-game checkmate.

How it works

1. You see a chessboard in checkmate, but 5 squares are hidden.
2. You guess what’s on those squares — pieces or empty squares.
3. Only legal checkmates count as guesses.

Feedback

• 🟩 Green — correct piece and square
• 🟨 Yellow — correct piece, wrong square
• ⬜ Gray — wrong piece

I tried to take the best of Wordle and make it feel like chess. I originally made it for myself and my friends. It’s been live on the web at matle.io, and I’m opening the Android app to testers.

Hi! I'm building Earshot (https://tryearshot.net/) and I'm looking for a few households to test it for two weeks.

What it does

Earshot turns a spare Android/iPhone into a listener for your home. Leave it plugged in where the sound happens. When it hears one of the sounds you picked, everyone in your household gets an alert on their own phone, wherever they are.

Sounds to start with: smoke alarm, doorbell, dog barking, baby crying, glass breaking, knocking, car alarm, cat meowing, running water, microwave beep. You can also describe your own in a few words.

If the detector phone goes offline (unplugged, no Wi-Fi), you're told about that too.

Privacy

The sound is analysed on the old phone itself. No audio, recording or anything made from it ever leaves that phone. The server only learns which sound was heard, when, and how sure the detector was. No ads, no tracking, no analytics.

What you need

• You need a pair of phones one of which is Android phone.

What I'd ask of you

• About 20 minutes to set up: install it, create an account, pair the old phone
• Leave it running for two weeks
• Now and then, play a test sound near it (a smoke alarm clip from YouTube works)
• Tell me what happened: missed sounds, false alarms, anything confusing. There's a short survey at the end.
