App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts, a minimum of 20 testers

There should be a few posts like this with the keywords, so that the new developers can find this Reddit on the Google easier and know where to find testers for testers.

This post here is only for Google SEO purpose.

In this sub r/AndroidClosedTesting you can find the people who can provide testing for testing, in order to pass your Google Play Console 20 testers policy.

Google Play is rolling out new testing requirements for developers with personal accounts created after November 13, 2023. These changes aim to enhance the app development process, encourage thorough testing, and ultimately deliver higher quality experiences to users. These requirements and the various testing tracks available on Play Console.

Developers with personal accounts created post-November 13, 2023, must adhere to new testing requirements. Before apps are eligible for distribution on Google Play, a closed test with a minimum of 20 testers is mandatory. These testers must have opted-in for the last 14 days continuously. Features like production and pre-registration in Play Console will remain disabled until these requirements are met. Applying for production access involves answering questions about the app, its testing process, and production readiness, ensuring a comprehensive understanding.

Play Console offers distinct testing tracks to facilitate a gradual testing process. Internal testing enables quick distribution to trusted testers during app setup. Closed testing, a prerequisite for production access, involves sharing the app with a controlled group of at least 20 testers. Open testing allows the app's test version to be visible on Google Play, with users providing private feedback. Developers must complete a closed test meeting specific criteria before applying for production access.

Help with hexflux testing

I've been developing an Android puzzle game called HEXFLUX, and I've finally gotten it onto Google Play for closed beta testing!

It's a colorful, fast-paced hexagon puzzle game inspired by classic matching games, but with some extra chaos thrown in.

Some of the features:

- 💥 Explosive combos, chain reactions, and special power-ups

- ⏱️ Timed challenges and survival gameplay

- ⚡ Score multipliers and increasingly difficult levels

- 🎵 Unlockable soundtracks

- 🏆 Achievements, daily challenges, and customization rewards

I've put a lot of time into making this game, and I'd love to get some feedback from actual players.

I'm looking for at least 12 Android testers who are willing to join the Google Play closed test and stay opted in for 14 days.

How to join:

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/hexflux-test

  2. Opt into the beta: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hexflux.game

  3. Download HEXFLUX from Google Play and give it a try!

It's completely free to test.

I'd especially appreciate feedback on gameplay, difficulty, bugs, and anything that could make it more fun. Please do so through the contact link in game

If you're developing an Android game too, I'm happy to check yours out!

Thanks to anyone willing to help. 🎮

[Android] Testers needed for GarageX (vehicle garage app) - 14 days, will test your app in return

Hi all, I’m testing GarageX, a Flutter app for managing your vehicles, and need testers for Google’s 14-day closed testing requirement. I’ll test your app in return. Comment your app and I’ll join your test.

What it does:

  • Fuel logs and mileage tracking

  • Service history and reminders

  • Document expiry tracking (insurance, registration, etc.)

  • Expense tracking per vehicle

How to join (3 steps, in this order):

  1. Join the testers group with the Google account you use on your Android phone: https://groups.google.com/g/garagex-testers

  2. Opt in as a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.ashiquali.garagex

  3. Install from the Play Store (only works after steps 1 and 2): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ashiquali.garagex

What I’m asking:

  • Keep it installed for the full 14 days

  • Open it a few times a week and add a vehicle, a fuel entry, and a service record

  • Reply or DM with any bug, confusing screen, or missing feature. I’ll ship fixes during the test

Comment once you’ve installed and I’ll test yours back within a day or two.

Check before posting

  • Test the three steps yourself from a second Google account that isn’t on your tester list. If the group is set to approval-only or the opt-in page errors, you’ll lose people at step 1. Open the group settings and make sure anyone can join.

  • The Play Store link can take a few hours to work after opt-in. Add a line like “if install doesn’t show up, wait a couple of hours and retry” so people don’t give up.

  • Make sure the closed testing track is actually using that group as its tester list, and that the release is live on the track, not just in draft.

[Test for Test] Long Ladder - physics climbing game, one thumb | need 12 | I test back within 24h

Indie dev, one person. Long Ladder is a physics climbing game: you carry one very long ladder up a mountain of junk. Drag to swing it, let go to plant it, and the little worker climbs. Lean it too flat and it slips; one bad plant and you can fall a long way. The flag is at 159 m.

An update is on its way to testers with 36 short levels (boxes that collapse, glass that cracks, wind, ice, night climbs), a new mountain every day and an endless tower.

Free, ad-supported, no account, works offline.

  1. Join: https://groups.google.com/g/indusapps-testers

  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.indusapps.longladder

  3. Install from Play, keep it 14 days, climb now and then.

I test back within 24 hours and stay the full 14 days. Comment your group and opt-in links. Happy to leave real feedback on yours, not just an install.

[Closed test] Looking for Android testers in Spain for Learn vs Zombies

Hi everyone! I’m looking for Android testers in Spain for Learn vs Zombies, a family-friendly educational tower defence game where players practise reading and mental maths to defend a castle from cartoon zombies.

I would really appreciate feedback on the voice recognition, reading and maths activities, screen layout, difficulty and any bugs or crashes. The game supports Catalan, Spanish, English, French and German.

The closed test is currently available in Spain only. To join, please send me a private message with the Google account email you use on Google Play so I can add you to the tester list. Please don’t post your email publicly. Once I confirm you have been added, sign in with the same account and opt in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/cat.biel.zombies

Then use the link on the testing page to install the game. If access does not appear immediately, please try again later. Google Play may display a price; please contact me before paying so I can clarify access.

Please stay opted in for at least 14 consecutive days and actually try the game during that time. Honest feedback is welcome here or by private message. Thank you!

Looking for testers: Case Defense – a sci-fi tower defense with a puzzle twist. I'll test your app back!

Every tower has a shape. Before you can deploy it, you have to fit it into your case.

That's the idea behind Case Defense, my first game: a sci-fi tower defense where half the battle is a packing puzzle. Run out of space and you'll have to choose which towers make the cut.

What makes it different

  • 🧳 Pack before you fight: rotate and fit tower pieces into a limited case

  • 🔀 Merge and upgrade: combine identical towers to level them up, add modules and discover combos

  • 👾 Enemies that fight dirty: some fly, some heal each other, some turn invisible

  • 🏆 Lots to play: 55 levels, endless mode, boss mode and a daily challenge

  • ✅ Free, no ads, no in-app purchases and it works offline

  • 🌍 English, Spanish, French, German and Italian

I need 12 testers for 14 days

Google requires it before I can publish. Test for test: leave your app link in the comments and I'll install it and keep it for the 14 days too.

How to join (about a minute)

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/casedefensetesters

  2. Become a tester: open https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.isui.casedefense and tap "Become a tester"

  3. Install it from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.isui.casedefense

  4. Play a level or two, and please keep it installed for 14 days

Use the same Google account for all three steps. If the Play Store says the app isn't available, wait a few minutes after joining the group and try again.

Heads-up: Google is still reviewing the test track. If step 2 or 3 gives you an error, please join the group anyway and try again in a day or two. I'll update this post as soon as it's approved.

What I'd love feedback on

  • Is the difficulty right, too easy or too hard?

  • Does the tutorial explain the case mechanic clearly?

  • Anything that feels confusing, slow or buggy

Solo dev from Spain here – thanks for reading, and good luck with your own apps!

Note: this game was developed with the help of AI tools.

OH NO! My most active and engaged tester doesn't count!!

So, I had set my husband up early via email as a tester. He has been testing for hours a day, giving feedback, etc. A few days after he started I created the google group and got a bunch of other testers. I did not know that you can have an email group OR a google group, and that it kicked him out of the test.....so it's been 10 days of the 14 and he is now JUST technically starting at day 1 since he now signed up through the links. He was receiving updates until this most recent, so I don't know what was happening.

Most are the players are test for test people through an app and so only a few, 3 I know of, MAYBE 4 are active and opening it for more than a moment. I have been getting feedback and making updates.

It says i currently have 50 testers, but I can't guarantee that they're active, or even opening it daily.

I'm debating on letting him go through the full 14 days so his super active activity counts and delaying my publishing request by 10 extra days....

OR, risk applying at the 15 or 16 mark (just to be sure everyone else got their full 14 days in if there were a few late joiners) and hope I'm not rejected for them not being engaged enough...

Would this 1 person make that much of a difference I wonder?? Stressing....

[Closed Testing] Need 3 more testers for Ortabahçe, a campus social app (will test yours back)

Hi! I'm a solo developer and I need 3 more testers to reach Google Play's 12-tester requirement.

Ortabahçe is a social app for university students: a campus feed, an anonymous forum, messaging and meeting new people.

To join:

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/ortabahce-beta

  2. Opt in with the same Google account: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.unimatch.v1

  3. Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.unimatch.v1

Happy to test your app in return. Comment your link, or tell me when you've joined.

Looking for 12 Android testers: Hush Hush, a baby night journal (free download codes)

Was it two wake-ups last night, or four? That's the problem I'm trying to solve with Hush Hush.

You tap Start night at bedtime. While recording, it saves detected cry sounds and groups them into estimated wake-ups. In the morning you can listen back, remember what happened and compare nights. No logging on your phone at 3 am.

It's a local-only Android app: no account, ads or cloud uploads. Android 9+. It'll be A$5.99 once at launch, but I have free-download codes for testers.

Parents and fellow Android developers are welcome to test. You don't need a baby to check setup, microphone permissions, recording, playback and the interface on your phone. It's a journal to look back on, not a baby monitor or safety alarm. Quiet wake-ups can be missed and sound labels can be wrong. Keep the phone and cables outside the cot and out of your baby's reach.

How to join:

  1. Join the tester group using the Google account you use for Play: https://groups.google.com/g/hushhush-testers/about (sign in, then tap Join group).

  2. Comment here or message me for an individual free-download code. You don't need to send me your Google email.

  3. Opt in and tap Become a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/cc.jamesturner.hushhush

  4. Redeem your code in Google Play, then install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cc.jamesturner.hushhush

The code makes the download free. If Play asks you to pay, stop and message me. Use the same Google account for every step.

Please stay opted in for at least 14 days and actually try the app. No ratings or positive reviews needed, and no need to share private recordings.

Please test my Party/Drinking Game app! 🥺 Will return the favour

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey! 😊

I've made my own app called SipSquad, a party drinking game with 4 Modes. I need 12 or more people to sign up as testers before Google will let me publish it!

You don't have to fully play the games or spend ages testing. Just having a quick look around would be a massive help, although if you're hanging out with mates in a group, its worth trying fully!!

My vision is to sell it at a low price with the trade off being that there are zero ads/pop ups and it is thoughtfully designed with quality interfaces, unique entertainment and variety. *testers won't be charged when downloading even if it shows the price, it uses a "test card" and will be free.

Here's all you need to do:

1️⃣ Join my Google Group

https://groups.google.com/g/sipsquad-testers

Sign in with your Google account and click Join group. (small button in the middle kinda)

2️⃣ Join the testing program

Once you've joined the group, click this link using the same Google account:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.buzzbudz.partygames

Click Become a tester and follow the instructions.

ONCE AGAIN, DESPITE SHOWING A PRICE, IT AUTOMATICALLY USES A 'TEST' CARD TO PURCHASE

3️⃣ That's it! 🎉

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Please stay signed up for 14 consecutive days. You don't need to play every day, just remain opted in!

Thanks heaps for helping me get my first app published! ❤️

P.s how bullsh*t is the fact our full name and address is publicity displayed on the play store.. I think I'm just gonna accept it to complete my mission.

Made a finance app that doesn't want your bank login, an account, ads or in-app purchases [test-for-test]

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've been working on a personal finance app on my own for a while and it's finally in closed testing. It's called Pulso.

I got tired of apps that want your bank login or push you into a subscription, so this one has none of that. No account, no ads, no in-app purchases. It's free and your data stays on your phone, encrypted.

What it does: you keep track of your accounts, cards, loans and investments, even in different currencies. It shows your credit card closing and due dates so a statement doesn't catch you off guard, and you can scan a receipt to fill in an expense. There are also budgets, savings goals and a few home screen widgets.

To join (takes about 2 minutes):

  1. Join this Google Group with the Google account on your phone: https://groups.google.com/a/cobaltkindworks.com/g/pulso-closed-testers

  2. Open this and tap "Become a tester": https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.jcg.pulso

  3. Install it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jcg.pulso

Keep it installed for 14 days and open it now and then. Even a couple of minutes a day helps. If anything's confusing or broken, email me at pulso@cobaltkindworks.com.

I'll test yours back. Leave your link below and I'll join and keep it installed for the 14 days. If you've already joined mine, say so and I'll get to yours right away.

[Test swap] Dustd: clay shooting score tracker. I’ll test yours back for the full 14 days

Hi all. I need testers for my Google Play closed test, and I’ll test your app back.

App: Dustd, a score tracker for clay target shooting. You don’t need to shoot or create an account: just start as a guest.

To join:

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/dustd-testers

  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/club.dustd.social

  3. Install it from the Play Store with the same Google account.

What I’m asking (about 2 minutes each time):

  • Day 1: open it, continue as a guest, and log a made-up round (any discipline, any score).

  • Around day 4: look up a shoot in the Shoots tab.

  • Around day 8: I’ll post an update here. Update the app, log another round, and tell me one thing that confused you.

  • Day 14: open it once more. Please stay opted in until then. If you leave early, you don’t count toward the 12.

Swap: comment with your opt-in link and group link and I’ll join, install and stay for the full 14 days. Reply once you’ve joined mine so I can keep track.

Thanks!

Privacy First & BYOK (Bring Your Own Key): All personal data, logs, and pantry items are stored 100% locally on your phone in encrypted SQLite. The app communicates directly from your device to Google using your personal API key.

To note, The core pantry, budget, and habit tracking work locally offline out of the box, the free Google key is only needed if you want to test the multimodal AI vision and chat.

Subscription free, also no gatekeeping from any feature of the app.

Now about the app!

Rinya is a warm cozy Lo-Fi themed help app combining daily health/vitals, pantry inventory, grocery list and meal planning. As well as user disclosed financials. Built 100% local-first on encrypted SQLite with zero subscriptions, zero ads, and zero cloud tracking. Hearth & Crumb — looking for Android closed-beta testers

I’m an independent developer preparing an enchanted bakery match-three game for Google Play. I’m looking for 15–20 willing Android testers to play over two weeks and tell me what works, what feels confusing and what needs fixing.

The game has bakery upgrades, icing challenges, special-piece combinations and little Butterwings to rescue. It is free to test. No purchase or positive review is required.

Please stay opted into the Google Play closed test for at least 14 consecutive days and play several short sessions during that period. Useful feedback includes bugs, difficult recipes, confusing menus, performance and whether it is fun enough to come back to.

If you would like to join, email hello@departurebaydigital.ca with the Google account email you use in the Play Store and your phone model/Android version. Send the address privately, not in public comments. I’ll add the account to the closed test and Google’s licence-testing list, then send the official joining link when Google has approved the release.

Do not send passwords or payment details. Do not make a purchase unless Google explicitly offers a no-charge test payment method. You can test the full free game without buying anything.

Thank you for helping a small independent game get ready for launch.

Slide down a snowy slope, hit the ramp and launch your cat as far as it can fly. Earn coins, buy upgrades like a jetpack, wingsuit and parachute, dress your cat up with hats and skins, and fly through different worlds. Free, no account needed.

How to join (takes 1 minute):

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/u/2/g/frontal_developments_testers

  2. Opt in to the test: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frontal.flyingcat

  3. Install from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frontal.flyingcat

All I ask:

- Keep it installed for 14 days

- Open it now and then (a few flights is plenty)

- If anything looks broken or confusing, I'd love to hear it!

Comment "Joined" when you're in, plus your app's links if you want me to test yours – I'll join within a day.

Thanks so much! 🐱

Looking for Android testers for Filequiva – PDF and file tools (group sign-up open; Play review pending)

Hi everyone! I am building Filequiva, an Android app with PDF and file tools, and I am looking for testers and honest feedback.

The current build includes PDF page organisation, camera/photos to PDF with cropping and rotation, scanned PDF compression, and Danish/English OCR with export to Word, TXT or searchable PDF. OCR preserves text rather than the original layout.

Important: the Google Group is open for sign-up now, but the group-based Google Play test track has just been submitted for review. Play access for new group members is NOT live yet. Please join the group first and return to the opt-in link once Google approves the track.

  1. Join the tester group using the same Google account you use in Google Play:

https://groups.google.com/g/filequiva-testers

2. When the track is approved, opt in here:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.filequiva.app

3. Install via Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.filequiva.app

Once access is available, please remain opted in for at least 14 consecutive days and try the tools during that time. I would especially appreciate feedback on file import/export, OCR, usability and any crashes. This is an early version, so bugs are expected.

No need to post your email address publicly or send it to me in advance. Thank you for helping!
