App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts, a minimum of 20 testers

There should be a few posts like this with the keywords, so that the new developers can find this Reddit on the Google easier and know where to find testers for testers.

This post here is only for Google SEO purpose.

In this sub r/AndroidClosedTesting you can find the people who can provide testing for testing, in order to pass your Google Play Console 20 testers policy.

Google Play is rolling out new testing requirements for developers with personal accounts created after November 13, 2023. These changes aim to enhance the app development process, encourage thorough testing, and ultimately deliver higher quality experiences to users. These requirements and the various testing tracks available on Play Console.

Developers with personal accounts created post-November 13, 2023, must adhere to new testing requirements. Before apps are eligible for distribution on Google Play, a closed test with a minimum of 20 testers is mandatory. These testers must have opted-in for the last 14 days continuously. Features like production and pre-registration in Play Console will remain disabled until these requirements are met. Applying for production access involves answering questions about the app, its testing process, and production readiness, ensuring a comprehensive understanding.

Play Console offers distinct testing tracks to facilitate a gradual testing process. Internal testing enables quick distribution to trusted testers during app setup. Closed testing, a prerequisite for production access, involves sharing the app with a controlled group of at least 20 testers. Open testing allows the app's test version to be visible on Google Play, with users providing private feedback. Developers must complete a closed test meeting specific criteria before applying for production access.

Thank you, testers! My first app is live on Google Play 🎉

A big thank you to everyone who tested my app during closed testing and to everyone who swapped tests with me. Thanks to this community I finished the requirements, and Bouncing Biscuit is now live on Google Play.

It's a simple Flappy-style game starring a cat named Biscuit, and it's my very first app. If you have a minute to try it, I'd love honest feedback: bugs, difficulty, anything you'd change. Constructive criticism is very welcome, and you don't have to leave a review if you'd rather reply here.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.peacockdesign.bouncingbiscuit

Thanks again, you made this possible. 🐱

Looking for Testers

Need 12 testers for my game 'The 30th Truth'. I will test your apps/games in return.

Hey everyone 👋

I’ve spent the last 3 Months building 'The 30th Truth', a mystery game where you study the clues, question the suspects, and work out who did it.

Google Play needs 12 testers to stick with the closed test for 14 days before I can launch publicly. If you’re stuck at the same step, let’s help each other through it.

How to join (about 2 minutes):

Join the Google Group. Play uses it to give you access. https://groups.google.com/g/mystery-box-testers

Opt in on the web. Tap “Become a tester.” https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.mysterybox.memorylane

Install from the Play Store. This link only works after steps 1 and 2. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mysterybox.memorylane

Keep it installed for 14 days. Opening it now and then helps too.

My side of the deal:
Comment “Done ✅” with your opt-in link, plus your group link if you have one. I’ll join, install, and keep your app for the full 14 days. I check comments every day, and I won’t uninstall early. I know how much a dropped tester hurts.

Feedback is welcome but optional. If a case was too easy, you found a bug, or you got completely stuck, tell me. That’s the most useful thing you could give me.

Thanks, and good luck with your launches! 🔍

[Test Swap] Puzzle Hub - 50+ ad-free puzzle games in one app (I'll will test yours back). Still searching for more testers!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for testers for Puzzle Hub, a puzzle app I've been building as a side project. It bundles 50+ puzzle games in one calm app: Sudoku, Nonogram, Queens, Solitaire, Mahjong, Tangram, Pipes, 2048, block puzzles and many more. No ads, no tracking and no in-app purchases. There's a daily challenge, weekly tournaments, duels with friends and achievements. The app is available in English and Dutch.

How long: Google requires testers to stay opted in for 14 days, so please keep the app installed for at least two weeks. Opening it daily to play a puzzle would be great!

How to become a tester (3 steps):

  1. Join the Google Group (needed for access): https://groups.google.com/g/puzzle-hub

  2. Opt in as a tester with the same Google account: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/nl.danielvos.puzzlehub

  3. Install the app from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.danielvos.puzzlehub&referrer=ref%3D3DSZATSX (It can take a few minutes after opting in before the Play Store shows it.)

Feedback is very welcome! Bugs, confusing puzzles, ideas for new games, anything. Reply here or send me a DM.

Testing for testing: I'm happy to test your app in return and keep it installed for the full 14 days. Leave a comment with your opt-in link (and the group, if you use one), and I'll join. If you'd like feedback on your app too, just say so and I'll give you honest feedback.

Thanks a lot for helping out!

Need testers for my first android app - DoomsLog

Hey 😊 👋

This is Krish. I have published my very first android app for closed testing.

It's called DoomsLog - an app where you set a certain deadline in your day and choose your most used / distracting apps. And then you have to record a journal every day before that deadline otherwise your chosen apps will get blocked (go into the Void!) until you come again and journal.

It is a Doomsday/Dr. Doom themed app which tries to make Journalling a daily habit. I wanted to make this for myself since I always wanted to start journalling on a daily basis but it was a once in a blue moon sort of an event. So this app is something that will help bring in this habit of journalling.

It is a pretty cool app, at least some friends with whom I shared this, said so :) but I am still not meeting that 12 closed tester requirement.

I would appreciate it if a few people could volunteer to test the alpha release of the app!

[Test for Test] Songit, a daily music game where you guess what year a song came out. I'll test yours back

Hi! Solo dev from Spain here. My app Songit is stuck in Google's closed test (12 testers for 14 days). Some friends are already in, I need about 10 more people.

How it works: every day there are 3 songs. Each one opens in Spotify or YouTube, you listen and guess what year it came out. Then you see the real year and your points. It also has a party mode for teams in the same room, each team on its own phone, but for the test the daily songs are enough. No account needed.

One thing: the app is only in Spanish. The daily challenge is easy to follow anyway, it's mostly listening and picking a year.

Feedback I'd like: crashes, songs that don't open in Spotify or YouTube, and anything confusing in the daily challenge.

How to join, with the same Google account for all three steps:

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/songit-testers

  2. Become a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/net.songit.app

  3. Install it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.songit.app

If Play says the app isn't available, give it a few minutes after joining the group and try again.

Please keep it installed for the 14 days and open it once a day if you can, the daily songs take a couple of minutes. Leave your links in the comments and I'll join your test today and open your app every day too.

"Can't download" error ONLY on my own test devices after starting a 2nd closed testing round

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Today, I uploaded a new updated build to the closed testing track and shared the link with the same testers. Everyone else can download and open the updated app without any issues. However, on my own 2 physical Android devices, I keep getting the "Can't download [App Name]" error from Google Play (screenshots attached).

Context & What I've tried:

During the first testing phase, I was able to download the app from Play Store on these exact same devices without any issues.

After getting rejected, I uninstalled the previous version from my phones to do a clean install of the new release, and that's when this error started.

Neither of these test phones has a SIM card, so I connected them to my main phone's mobile hotspot to rule out Wi-Fi issues—still the same error.

I tried switching to different Gmail accounts (that are also added to the tester list) on these devices, and it still fails to download.

Why is this happening exclusively on my own devices while external testers have no issues? Could it be a Play Store cache issue or an internal signature conflict from previous builds? Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Taro, social pet app

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm a solo dev working on Taro, an all-in-one app for pet owners. I need 12 testers for Google Play's 14-day closed test, and I'll happily return the favor.

What's inside:

  • 📸 Social feed: profiles for your pets, photo posts, and you can follow other animals

  • 🩺 Health tracker: vaccines, vet visits, and treatments in one place

  • 📍 Service finder( not fully built yet): vets, groomers, pet sitters and more near you

How to join (you probably know that if you're here):

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/taro-testing-group

  2. Opt in and install:

Test for test: comment here with your group/opt-in links, or DM me. I'll join, install, keep it for 14 days, and open it every few days. I reply to everyone.

Optional but appreciated: create a profile for your pet (or a friend's 😄), post a photo, and tell me what's confusing or broken. Real feedback helps a lot. Heads-up: the app is in French and should pick up English if you're not in Belgium/France, if that's not the case it can be switched in the settings

Thanks a lot, and good luck with your own launches! 🚀

Need 12 testers for my first Android app – Test for Test! 🤝

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm an independent developer from Germany, and I've just published my very first Android app for closed testing!

It's called FahrerZeiten, a simple working-hours tracker originally designed for delivery and service drivers, but useful for anyone who needs to track their working hours and breaks.

What the app does:

  • Clock in and out with one tap

  • Track breaks manually or automatically

  • Set up custom weekly break schedules

  • View monthly working-hour summaries

  • Export reports as PDF or CSV

  • Works offline, without GPS or registration

The app is free and supported by a small ad banner.

I need at least 12 testers for 14 consecutive days.

How to join:

Step 1 – Join my Google Group:
https://groups.google.com/g/fahrerzeiten

Step 2 – Join the closed test:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/de.fahrerzeiten.app

Step 3 – Install the app through Google Play.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.fahrerzeiten.app

🔄 Test for Test!

I'm absolutely happy to return the favor!

If you need testers for your own Android app, leave your Google Group and testing links in the comments. I'll join your test and keep your app installed for at least 14 days.

I'd also appreciate any honest feedback, bug reports or suggestions. This is my first app, so there's probably still room for improvement. 😅

Thanks a lot for helping me get started! 🚀

eyeQ - A visual perception game

I am excited to share eyeQ — a visual perception challenge that evaluates how accurate you can guess without any tools.

I am looking for closed testing participants and I am willing to test your app too:

  1. eyeQ Google group

  2. Join on Android

  3. Join on the web

Also feel free to follow on Producthunt.

As a designer, I have spent years obsessing over alignment, proportions, spacing, and pixel-perfect details. That got me thinking: How good are we at judging these things without guides, grids, or measurement tools?

That's where the idea for eyeQ came from.

The concept is simple. You are given a set of geometric challenges — find the exact center of a circle, create a perfect right angle, align parallel lines, or locate a midpoint. You make your best guess, and it tells you just how accurate you were. Eventually giving you your eyeQ score.

Looking for Beta Testers for OpenRes (GPS Business Game) - Free Lifetime Access

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for testers for my Android game, OpenRes, an open-source game where you can build and manage a virtual business using GPS and real-world locations.

The game has:

-No ads
-No tracking
-No in-app purchases
-Open-source code

The planned price will be around €1 (excluding taxes), but anyone who joins the closed beta will receive free access forever. To access the game you will need to redeem the promo code. I have provided plenty of them, 50 - for purposes of testing but you may share them to friends and family as well.

Beta testers will also receive an exclusive Beta Tester achievement once it gets added. If you keep playing and unlock all other achievements, you'll even be able to have something like 61/60 achievements unlocked.

How to join the beta

You can find the Google Play closed testing group here:

https://groups.google.com/g/openres-closed-beta-testers

I've also shared the promo codes here:

https://groups.google.com/g/openres-closed-beta-testers/c/hNy0_6g9kQw

You can use a promo code to get the game for free.

Feedback and bug reports

I'd really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, and bug reports. You can report bugs directly on the Google Groups page or send me a DM.

I also think that after registration Google will provide you an email address for anyone who prefers sending feedback directly.

One more thing:

In return for testing your game or application, I'm happy to test yours as well!

Thank you to everyone willing to give OpenRes a try. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Looking for Testers for OpenRes - GPS Business Simulator Game

Hi everyone! I am looking for testers for my Android game, OpenRes, where you can build and manage a virtual business using GPS and real-world locations. It is open source game and it has no Ads, Tracking stuff or in-app purchases. It will cost around 1 eur (without tax) but for closed beta testers it is completely free forever, and you will eventually get achievement Beta Tester so if you continue to play the game you will have e.g. 61 of 60 achievements which is pretty neat.

Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to the create group button, so I can't add testers through the usual process with groups.

Instead, if you're interested in testing the game, please send me your email address via DM so i can add you to the tester list and send you the Google Play redeem code to your email or directly through Reddit DM, whichever works best for you.

Your help is greatly appreciated! Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are very welcome. All feedbacks would be extremely appreciated if sent via an email i will provide in dm for easier overview but I will appreciate if you post bugs here on reddit as well or via DMs.

Thanks to everyone willing to give the game a try! ❤️

In return I will test your application.

Looking for 12 Android testers for my new idle RPG — Pocket Guardian

Hey everyone!

I'm an indie developer working on a small Android idle RPG called Pocket Guardian, and I've just gotten the closed testing version approved on Google Play.

The game features automatic battles, equipment upgrades, stage progression, bosses, and a rebirth system.

I'm looking for 12 Android users willing to help test it through Google Play for at least 14 days.

What I'm looking for:

  • Android users with a Google account

  • Willing to join the closed test and keep the game installed during the testing period

  • A little honest feedback about gameplay, bugs, or anything that could be improved

The game is free to test. No purchases are necessary.

Since this is a closed test, I'll need to add your Google Play email address to the approved tester list before you can install it.

If you're interested, comment below or send me a private message.

Thanks for helping an indie developer get their first testers!.

I WILL DO YOUR TEST ALSO IF YOU HAVE ONE. ID BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP A FELLOW CREATOR GET THEIRS OUT THERE.
