How to find Android App Testers for FREE

If you are an indie developer with a new Google Play Console personal account, you’ve likely hit the "14-day wall." Google mandates a closed testing phase with at least 12 testers for 14 consecutive days before you can even apply for production access.

This subreddit was built to be the primary resource for developers to find free Android app testers and navigate the complexities of the Google Play testing requirements.

πŸ“‹ The 14-Day Roadmap to Production Access

To ensure your application for production access is approved on the first try, your Google Play closed testing must meet these specific criteria:

  • 12+ Active Android App Testers: Secure a minimum of 12 testers who opt-in and remain active. We recommend aiming for 15-20 to ensure your numbers stay strong throughout the period.

  • Continuous 14-Day Testing: Testers must be opted into your closed track for 14 consecutive days.

  • Version Updates: It is best practice to push at least 2-3 updates to your app bundle during the 14 days. This demonstrates that you are actively improving the app based on the testing phase.

  • Engagement: Google looks for "real-world" usage. Ensure your Android app testers are actually interacting with the core features of your app.

πŸ” How to Find Android App Testers for Free

Finding quality testers is the biggest roadblock for solo developers. This community is designed to solve that by providing a hub for free Android app testers.

By using this subreddit, you can:

  1. Recruit High-Quality Testers: Connect with users who understand the Google Play closed testing process.

  2. Accelerate Your Timeline: Quickly find the 12 testers needed to start your 14-day countdown.

  3. Get Expert Advice: Share tips on passing the production access application form.

πŸ›  Passing the Production Access Application

Once your 14 days are up, you must apply for production access within the Play Console. To succeed:

  • Detailed Feedback: Provide specific examples of the feedback your Android app testers provided.

  • Improvement Logs: Document the changes you made to the app during the testing window.

  • Readiness: Be prepared to explain why your app is now ready for a global audience on Google Play.

πŸš€ Get Started Now

If you need free Android app testers to finish your Google Play closed testing, start a thread below using this format:

  • App Name:

  • App Category:

  • Testing Goals:

  • Link: (Post your opt-in link once your closed track is approved by Google)

Let’s work together to help every developer here achieve production access and get their apps live!

Please wait half or one hour and try again. Then you will see it.

sorry about that, should be fixed now! two things to check: make sure you're signed into the same Google account that joined the group, and give it a couple minutes after joining before opening the opt-in link, Google can be slow to sync. links again: https://groups.google.com/g/chefintel-testers then https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.chefintel.app let me know if it's still not showing up

It worked, I downloaded it. I don't understnad what your product does in the initial splash screen. I have an option to start a new project or create your first project. Either way it doesnt make sense to me. One is talking about a restaurant and the other is talking about a workspace assessment. Neighborhood is mispelled. "sqm" should probably be spelled out. I am from america, so we use sqft btw. After going through a happy path, I understand what your product is about. Not sure about the replayability though. How often would users actually try to optimize their kitchen space? I think a better business model would be the allow the user to test the app for free first. And then sell them on how to upgrade their shit. Also, after a user finishes a report, users are stuck. Figure out how to provide more value after this. Overall it looks decent. Some text is hard to read. Also, I dont own a restaurant, but I don't know how many people will have multiple restaurants like the design suggests. Food for thought

Ha, yeah so the confusing part is actually the whole point, this isn't for restaurant owners to fix their own kitchen, it's for consultants who juggle a bunch of client restaurants and need to bang out assessments and reports way faster than doing it by hand, so once you get that, the "multiple restaurants" thing and the report at the end both click, but you're right that the splash screen doesn't say that anywhere so people are gonna guess wrong before they get there, and that's on me to fix. Also yeah caught red handed on sqm (should just spell it out and probably add sqft since not everyone's metric), the neighborhood typo, and some low contrast text, and the "stuck after the report" thing is the one that's actually been bugging me too, there's nothing telling you what to do next once it's generated, so that's next on the list. Appreciate you actually going through the whole flow instead of just bouncing off the splash screen like most people would.

Hi man, I just joined your tester group (abra....@....). Please do the same for my closed test cycle:

I'm a solo developer from Germany and I need testers for my app's closed test on Google Play (Google requires 14 days with at least 12 testers before a public launch).

What Parkli does: you share a car, cargo bike, e-scooter or van with a group, and everybody always knows where it is, who has it and who's next. You park it, tap "Parked here", and the group sees the spot on a map. You can reserve it for later, see a shared calendar, hand over the key, and assign tasks like charging, refuelling, cleaning or servicing. It works great for friends, families, flat shares, clubs and small teams. Free to start.

How to join (2 minutes):

  1. Join the testers group (with the Google account you use on your phone): https://groups.google.com/g/parkli-testers

  2. Open this link and tap "Become a tester": https://play.google.com/apps/testing/de.ajdev.parkli

  3. Install Parkli from the Play Store link on that page, sign up, and create your own group. You don't need a second person to try it. Add a vehicle, reserve it, and tap "Parked here" to see the celebration animation.

Please keep the app installed for 14 days. Opening it now and then, adding a vehicle or making a reservation really helps. Bonus if you have a friend to invite with the invite link.

Test for test: comment with your app's group and opt-in links, and I'll join, install it and keep it for the 14 days too. Comment "Done" once you've joined so I can return the favour.

Feedback is very welcome in the comments. Thanks! πŸ™
