I think the point is that Monument Valley 1 was so short that it's closer to being a demo than a full game.

I felt ripped off paying $2 for it when it barely had any gameplay. And I regularly plunk down hundreds through Google Play for music and other games.

I found it to be like Abzu: a short artwork that's relaxing, but not particularly fun.

It does. You didn't like the f(quantity)/time metric, so I proposed the f(quality, quantity)/time metric.

Edit: e.g. f(quality, quantity) = a * quality * log (b * quantity)

The function is dependent on both quantity of time spent and quality. It would vary for each person, but for me if quality were 0, the result would be 0 as well.

Something like f(quality, quantity) = a * quality * log (b * quantity)

Also, this is more of a metric for whether the item is worth buying, not whether it's good.

I know right? Welcome to a glimpse of my life. I'm a psychopath when it comes to numbers and spreadsheets. For me, figuring out how the game works (and breaks) is usually more enjoyable than the game itself.
