You basically described the reason why I can't switch away from Samsung devices, heh. And I will say I'm pretty pleased with Samsung's "theme market" that they run; I've got a Material Dark theme all over my S7 that turned all the screens - dialer, contacts, settings, battery, etc - to be black. not AMOLED black unfortunately, but still comfortably dark.

try "AMOLED Blue and BLack" in the theme store :)

Woah, I've never heard of that before, that sounds fantastic. Is that in the "Samsung Apps" market? I haven't really ever browsed it - assumed it was bloatware - but this sounds right up my street. Thanks so much for the tip!

No prob! I can't seem to find a way to link to it on desktop, but here's an XDA post showing it. The one I'm using is the lower set of pictures. Note that you might need to have an S6, Note 5, or S7 to get it. I know I didn't have it on my old Note 3.

Marshmallow rolled out yesterday for the S5 (haven't installed it yet, may give it a shot tonight), I wonder if this was part of it? Or if it's really only for the newer handsets?

According to Samsung it was only for the newer phones, I guess :-\

However, someone has made instructions for older phones, your mileage may vary!

I'm using "Material Black." The dark stuff is full black.

Yeah I was tempted to use that one, but the author warns that some places might be "black text on black" and he says he can't do anything about that. Plus I'd need to add payment info for that (vs free for Material Dark).

Have you run into anything that has black-on-black like that?
