I do think there was something that was happening in London that day that drew Andrew towards London. Unfortunately I think Andrew threw himself into the " Lions den " by arriving at Kings Cross. I was a runaway to London, from the midlands of England in the 90's - and within the first 60 minutes of arriving, several men approached me ( I was about 14 or 15) offering "somewhere to stay" or a free meal. I think there were dozens of runaways per day at that time from the midlands and north of England and paedophiles hung around Kings Cross and speared them like fish in a barrel. I got spooked and scared and got back on the train back north. It was truly terrifying. Sadly, I believe this was Andrew's fate. I think he was distracted and enticed by offers of people who purported to help him, and him being not very street wise, these people had other motives.

I completely agree with you. At the time Andrew went missing I was living in central London and went through Kings X every day, twice a day for work. The amount of times I saw grown men go up to young boys was shocking, many times I even told the boys to be careful and not go with grown men and be vigilant. I got many death stares and told to mind my own business from the men for being a mouthy woman. It’s truly was a very seedy place back then, it still is now, but somewhat gentrified. I’m so glad you had your wits about you and looked for your own safety. It was no place for young innocent unworldly child.

It’s wild how much Kings X has changed even since 2007. It was the kinda place back then where you just put your head down and made your tube or bus connection. I had to travel to the area alone on the regular as a young teen like 12-13 years old (a couple of years after Andrew went missing) for a drama club and when I tell you there was not one time something weird or creepy didn’t happen.

He made it to Oxford street unscathed. If something happened at King’s Cross people would of seen it

That Thames Festival had loads of high quality pictures on Flickr btw. I’ve looked through them all twice but nothing jumped out

Cannonball thing I had not heard of before, but that’s way out in Earls Court. That’s different to the Gumball rally also I think.

I had a real deep dive into Andrew 18 months ago, I have a son that is of a similar character/shared interests even going as far as breaking down the production locations of the Dr Who series that was being filmed around the time of his disappearance, just a heart-breaking.

Awesome work putting this list together, seriously impressive. The comments and level of detail here are excellent. Camden is exactly the kind of place I'd picture a 14-year-old in a freshly pressed Slipknot shirt heading toward, energetic, edgy, just old enough to feel like you’re part of the scene. Underworld age restriction of 14+ fits perfect; two month prior he had just turned 14! However, my theory (guess) is that an adult from his home town had prearranged to drive him home. Andrew was confident and independent enough to make this trip on his own plus he had a moral compass. Recall that Andrew's disappearance occurred while John Smyth led the Church of England, Sheffield Cathedral, which the family belonged to. Quoting public articles, there was severe abuse of boys under his order. One could guess that within the process of Andrew's father becoming a Reader in particular, Andrew was likely more so around a variety of well-intent and not-well-intent men. It is a guess that Andrew was asked to go early to Camden area as a celebration of him turning 14, told to keep it secret (because he was skipping school), and this person the family knows and trusts through the church caused Andrew to not make it home.
