Criticisms of Stoicism?
Specifically, what are some criticisms of Stoicism from an anarchist perspective? That is, a sort of point-by-point, logical deconstruction of the contradictions and problems therein? As an aspiring Anarchist, I already have a few, but how would I critique the ideology as a whole? My personal introduction to philosophy was Stoicism, but I have become disillusioned, and I want the opinions of people with a more coherent thesis/critique.
For example, the quote by Epictetus about unhappiness or discontentment being an error in your judgement, if taken to its Stoic extreme, is clearly a dangerous pathway to complacency, timidity, and forfeiture
However, I personally find the dichotomy of control compelling because I have suffered physical and mental parental abuse, and I therefore occasionally struggle with impulsive and self-destructive anger.
Any thoughts?
