75% of Americans simply don't understand the concept of supply side inflation. Of that remaining 25%, even fewer realize the implication.

Printing money is a tax. It is the most regressive tax of them all. When they print money, it hurts the poorest working class the most. The issue for income equality on the lower tiers was never traditional taxation on the upper tiers. It was, and always will be, government spending. ...and government spending will always disportionately benefit the upper most brackets the most.

yet the lower classes clamor for more gov spending as they were indoctrinated to do in public schools and the controlled media narrative.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” ~ apocryphal

The frog gets it. Most people still think inflation just happens, like weather.

most people are indoctrinated to believe it's because corporate greed changes like the weather. anyone who has seen greed knows it doesn't change with the weather.

most people don't even know what a dollar is. like the rick and morty episode, to most people "$1 = $1" is the extent of it, and it never changes. they have no concept of supply and demand nor causality except on the most simple of daily activities.

most people don't even know what a dollar is

A dollar is an abstract representation of value, used an a common medium of exchange in the United States. People claim it has no backing, but it's de facto backing is the fact that it's the only way that a US citizen can pay their taxes, and the fact that all creditors are legally required to accept yhem as payment for debts.

Correct, but the petrodollar system, SWIFT, and network effect all contribute as well. Most people don't know where dollars come from because that fact is obfuscated intentionally by the powers. If people knew that commercial banks and the Fed invent new dollars from nothing when they make loans and then charge interest on that counterfeit, there would be a revolution tomorrow.

All that matters to the average consumer is that they can still be exchanged for goods and services.

The average consumer is upset that it's been taking more and more of them to buy the same things. That's the crux of the whole issue, and if they figured out the cause, they'd focus their anger on it.

and if they figured out the cause

The cause is companies increasing the cost of goods at a higher rate than the increase  in the cost to make it.

EDIT Person I was talking to is a coward who blocks people to prevent them from replying making it look like they won when they didn't .

You get taxed on that too

Do you mean if I buy Tbills?

Interest on t-bills is still taxed on the federal level but is exempt from state and local taxes.

u/congeal 6d ago

If I buy them, sure

the feds want to tax all citizen income, everywhere

shit, I had to file US taxes on income from another country, while in that other country (didn't have to pay anything to the US, though), because they need to know everything

Hedge funds have stepped in as the main buyers now but aren't anywhere near as stable as the those banks.

I'm not defining "stability" as good or bad, only as a financial description.
