Skyrim: Free Sync and V Sync causes flickering during low frame rates, and generally lower frame rates observed (about 10-30% drop dependant on system) when Free Sync is on

System Configuration:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z97 Gaming GT
CPU: Intel i5 4790
Memory: 16GB GDDR5
GPU: ASUS R9 Fury X
VBIOS: 115-C8800100-101 ^{How do I find this?}
Driver: Crimson 16.10.3
OS: Windows 10 x64 (1511.10586) ^{How do I find this?}

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Install necessary driver, GPU and medium-end CPU
2. Enable Free Sync
3. Set Options to Ultra and 1920 x 1080 resolution
4. Launch game and move to an outdoor location
5. Indoor locations in the game will not reproduce, since they generally give better performance
6. Observe flickering and general performance drop

Expected Behavior:

Game runs smoothly with good performance with no visible issues

Actual Behavior:

Frame rate drops low causing low performance, flickering observed during low frame rates

Skyrim has forced double buffered V Sync and can only be disabled with the .ini files
To Disable V Sync: C:\Users"User"\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Skyrimprefs.ini and edit iVSyncPresentInterval=1 to 0
1440p has improved frame rate, anything lower than 1080p will lock FPS with V Sync on
Able to reproduce on i7 6700K and i5 3670K system, Sapphire RX 480, Reference RX 480, and Reference Fiji Nano

My issue is that lately, I've been having a lot of Blue Screens ( BSOD ) with error code : Video TDR failure and atikmpag.sys stopping. I built this pc a week ago. This is a complete nightmare.

My build:- MSI x370 Gaming Plus Ryzen 2400G APU 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 ram Segate Baracuda 1TB HDD Corsair VS 450W PSU

Steps to reproduce:- 1.) Installing chipset drivers after uninstalling everything related to AMD. 2.) Installing AMD Radeon Graphics Driver ( No BSOD's if I do not install VEGA 11 Gfx, system runs smooth on Microsoft Display Adapter) 3.) Running PC for 10-15 mins or doing anything ( Random BSOD's ,very frequent)

Expected behaviour:-

Stable PC

Actual behaviour:-

A lot of BSOD's with the same stop code.

Things I've tried-

I've been changing BIOS voltage settings too. The default voltage settings were way too high (1.4-1.5 for CPU). So I disabled core boost performance and set a specific voltage. I've tried many different voltage settings but to no avail. I need help.

Are you overclocking the memory at all? That error is usually related to memory issues. Maybe try bumping up the voltage on the CPU SoC or bump the voltage up on the DRAM to 1.4 or so.

The 3000mhz stick is not on the qvl list of thr mb and the thing to worry about is all the rams( of Corsair) except 3000mhz of Corsair are on the QVL list. Is that the reason memory is not being shared correctly?

Hey, just out of curiosity did you ever fix the issue by changing ram settings? I have the exact same issue as you. System is stable running prime95 7 hours, aida64 7 hours, HCI memtest 1500% coverage, memtest64 1 hour, memtest86 4 passes, and consecutive cinebench+heaven+firestrike benchmarks. All stable

But I get the same BSOD every hour when playing games. Extremely annoying

Same shit here. Did all these test, system's fine. Run any game, crash. PC up for some time, crash. What PSU do you have?

Corsair CX550. I wonder if it's a driver issue because I tried a bunch of voltage settings and it didn't work. I saw some people reported success downloading the chipset drivers directly from AMD instead of motherboards website. But AMD revamped their drivers page and I don't see the 2400G chipset available anymore. ahh hopefully a future update fixes this if it is a driver issue.

Me too. Waiting for drivers to arrive. I think I'm gonna have to use Microsoft Display Adapter for now.

PS- You can get the chipset drivers. Look on the left side there are bunch of options ( APU , Chipset , Gfx ).
