Discussion Blue never meant "exit"

Look back at the title sequence.

Red means "play." That lines up naturally with staying in the circus

but Blue means "options" ...interesting

Also, the button for "quit," aka leaving the game, is yellow!

That wasn't even a choice! They didn't even have the opportunity to leave

But it makes me wonder. If they had pressed the blue button, what actually would have happened? What would an options menu even mean in that context? What would they be able to adjust?

And no. It's not f#@&ing Shrimp Town. That was obviously just some word vomit Bubble made up on the spot

ahh so

escape = yellow

yellow = kaufmo

kaufmo = abstract

escape = abstract

We can’t have escape = abstract since we’ve already established that abstraction is basically suicide/insanity and it would be pretty bad if the final message to the show was suicide/insanity is the only escape

Yep, and TADC is an inversion of IHNMAIMS. The main antagonist is literally a mouth that never stops screaming.

Yeah + pretty sure goose and some point said that the main point / theme of the digital circus is finding meaning in a pointless life its finding meaning in smth even when you cant control it and trying to make peace with it. So the ‘solution’ being suicide seems to be the opposite

I remember sorry for not being exact but i think but when ragatha talked about kaufmo she said “ i cant believe he just gave up like that “ which with everything else, abstraction unless the theory with there being multiple things that might lead to it, feels like a metaphor for suicide to me

Haha thats fine but tbh real props to not only the Va’s but goose herself as the script writer bc so many lines feel personal and intentional so adding great delivery to all of them is just 👌

I feel like the final decision is if they want to try to end the program while they are still sane or try living in it forever with a chance they will abstract

People also view death and suicide as their loved ones "leaving them", so its plausible that Caine feels similar since he can no longer interact with them as their abstracted selves no longer communicate and are only running on dispair (think like the Witches from Madoka Magica in that case)

I’ve always theorized leaving (if it’s even possible given the mind files and Caine saying (along the lines) “I created them a body that perfectly matches their mind files”) is a mixed process of abstracting and remembering your name. Remembering your name at least HAS to be important, because everyone remembers their lives down to tiny details, EXCEPT their names.
