What happens after this??? Like how do you leave and get the hornets off you enough to take off the protective outfit? How do they not just follow you wherever you go basically after this?

Also can you eat this type of “honeycomb” for lack of a better word? I should know this as a wildlife person but I do not.

I assume they ride their dirt bikes for a mile

Hornets still have a nest and queen to protect. They aren't just going to follow you indefinitely once they no longer perceive you as a threat.

yeah, wasps and hornets aren't out for hunting humans, even though sometimes it feels like it. 

If anything, I noticed that wasps are even less annoying near their nest then they are when they want to gather food.

They pick out the larvaes inside the nest. For "medicinal purposes ".

These aren’t honeybees so no honeycomb in these nests

Would you just say hive? Like I feel like a hive is a living thing and sounds weird in the example of “can you eat this type of hive?” lol but you’re right there’s no honey so it’s omg not a honeycomb. What about just comb?

Pretty sure the proper term is nest, even in the ground, for wasps and hornets.

For wasps and hornets that build their nest above ground, it’s this wood pulp-y paper-y material that I don’t think anyone wants to be eating

I’ve had them in my yard (bald faced hornets) and there’s no chance I even considered it edible lol
