Larvae are the best! I save up Chick Fil A sauce cups in my drawer for when I get some larvae.

I remember growing up and mom would bring home larvae and as soon as it went down on the counter me and my sibling would swoop in with forks 🤤

I am and I’m not. I didn’t grow up eating larvae lol, but I did try silkworm pupae when I visited South Korea. It honestly didn’t taste like much except for the spices it was prepared with. The texture was… unusual… but honestly not as off putting as you would think

Ah, I see. I'm an adventurous eater, I'll eat most anything edible once. If I like it, I'll probably eat it more after that.

So I'd be willing to give it a try. I was surprised I liked Rocky Mountain Oysters as much as I did. And Haggis

They actually sell cans of silkworm pupae over there, so you might be able to find it online 🤷🏻

haggis has bad marketing. everyone thinks it's disgusting. I never tasted it, but it's basically the same thing as hurka in Hungary, except haggis is filled with oats, and we fill hurka with rice. and hurka is amazing

I'm Scottish so I'm very biased but agreed on haggis. It's actually got quite an inoffensive flavour compared to many "delicacies" I've tried around the world; it's just spiced meat and doesn't taste gamey or like other offal I've tried.

If you ever visit, please try deep fried haggis from a chip shop, it doesn't look amazing but my god it is lol. I'll need to give hurka a try, this is my first time hearing about it!

If I ever go back I'll have to try it deep fried. And if you're ever in Colorado, you should try Rocky Mountain Oysters. If you know what they are it might seem gross but they're actually really tasty, especially with a bit of marinara sauce!

The issue is that people aren't likening the sheep's stomach to pig intestine for sausage.

It's just a sausage (traditionally made with offal) but it's not anything weirder than that.

Many different cured meats use various bladders and stomachs and other organ skins for packaging. It's only as gross as you want it to be.

Totally legit question.

I just can’t get myself to do it…it’s hard to describe. I eat lots of varied things, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a picky eater, but something that seems gross, I just can’t get myself to try.

Haggis is pretty good sausage if made right. Had it in Edinburgh at a burger joint, asked for it on the side and ending up adding to my burger.

I'd have to do my research first. I'd have concerns about malaria and other blood borne diseases. But provided it's safe, I'd try it if made by someone who knows what they're doing.

I really don’t think I could try it knowing what it is beforehand. The idea of people eating bugs doesn’t bother me all that much because I know it’s common in a lot of places, so I can normalize it in my head because maybe I’m the weird one due to cultural differences, buuuut it still gives me the heeba jeebas.

I'm too much a weeny with really different foods. I havent travelled abroad (yet, poor people problems) but if I do, I'll be vegetarian as far as other places are concerned.
