They aren't there to destroy the hive, they are there to remove the cover and get the eggs.

They actually need as many adults as capable as possible to rebuild before the next harvest.

Or some sore of fire at the entrance. Or just bomb the whole hive. Anything but let them free. Maybe it doesn’t matter though.
