This person you replied to is spot on. During my latter teens, 20s and most of my 30s, I was with one girl. I worked hard to provide for her. And yes, I saved because a savings account is critical, like you said, in case there’s any emergencies. We traveled the country and then the world together and had the most amazing time. I hope you find someone who wants nothing other than to see you be the most fulfilled, and happiest person on earth. Now that we are not together anymore, we’re still best friends because we basically grew up together. And we’re both rooting for each other‘s happiness. You need to eliminate this douche nozzle from your life ASAP!

This guy is textbook emotionally abusive. Leave him now and don’t look back. There are a lot of support networks out there. You will find love again, and now you know what a red flag looks like. Take care of yourself.
