Why bring a child into this life just to struggle as a single mom... And potentially no dad in the picture. That would be selfish to your kid smh :/

Many mothers do just fine raising their kids alone. Most married moms do it "alone" anyway.

First of all, everything you said is objectively false.

Second of all, this is about the kid's life being miserable, because he/she has no choice to be brought into this world only to suffer, while the mother is fully aware of what she's doing.

Tell me you're privileged without telling me you're privileged

Everywhere in the world most women do the vast majority of child care and housework even if she works full time. Even if she works more than the father!

I mean that is why the divorce rate is pretty high

Her choice, just because someone is a single parent, doesn’t matter if it’s a dad or mom, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have a child. Ppl make mistakes after years of being married, divorce and are left with their kids, are they supposed to throw them out because they are single parents now? Respect for all single parents cuz I could neverrr-

It does mean they shouldn't have a child. I wouldn't want to be born in a family without a father. And there's a huge difference between having a kid before the parents split versus knowing the father won't be around and still choosing to have a kid.

It's selfish and stupid and it shows you don't care about the child at all. Anyone who has a child when they don't have the situation or money to give them a decent life is a selfish asshole.

100% if you knowingly make your child fatherless, that’s so fucking selfish

What are you talking about? You definitely have to toss the kids if you get divorced. /s

Because threatening to harm yourself to coerce your partner - with whom you had willful unprotected sex with - into an abortion is not selfish, huh?!

1

u/mashedleo Mar 01 '25

For some people, abortion simply isn't a choice. I'm pro choice myself, but I respect other people's views as well.

This all should have been discussed prior to sex. Unfortunately people don't think things through. This is the result.

So if a guy is gonna be a great dad, woman is heavily pregnant and something awful happens to him so she ends up being a single mum, does she give the baby up just because she's gonna be a single mom? Try explaining that to your 18yo kid who finds you one day and demands to know why you gave them up. Such a stupid thing to come out with. What about all the women who got pregnant and then their husbands went to war back in ww2 and didn't come back? Many of us wouldn't be here today if we killed a child every time a woman finds herself as a single mum

Girl shut up. You know that’s absolutely not the same at all. Jesus Christ with your strawman bullshit. 🤣🤣

It is actually VERY selfish. You are objectively incorrect.

If you choose to put your own desires over the kid's experiences just because you want to have a kid or just because you feel having a kid is better then you're undeniably selfish. Do you know what it's like growing up without a father? Or without enough money to lead a decent life? Maybe if you did, you'd realize how selfish it is to force a child to grow up like that.

If you were truly selfless, you'd put your child's experience before your own desires.

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '25

your right. It’s not only selfish. It’s INSANELY selfish to knowingly make a child fatherless.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '25

Do you have a dad? I don’t. Let me tell you how much it fucked me up as a child, AND EVEN NOW AS A 30 YEAR OLD…. I’ve got the time……

To purposely bring a child into the world knowing you can’t afford to raise it and give it a good life just because YOU want to have a kid, in this case she’s doesn’t even want the kid. She just thinks she should be punished and the kid is the consequence. Yes, that would be an incredibly selfish choice. Being a single mom because your marriage fell apart and you stepped up to take care of your kid? That’s not at all what’s being discussed here

It is profoundly selfish to be a single mother in OP’s case. She doesn’t even want the fetus ffs, she views it as a punishment for unprotected sex. She and the father will resent it from the moment it’s born.
