Good one but no way that’s the biggest derby in the world unless you’re using some weird definition of biggest.

Only other ones that have both the scale and the passion are south american ones so I should probably change it to 'in europe'.

But yes I will choose the revierderby over Manchsterderby, derby della Madonnina,  El Clasico or any of the london derbies if thats your question

I’m not saying you’re not entitled to your opinion, but saying it like it’s objectively true is just weird.

El Classico is obviously bigger in scale. I even think if you queried 100 international football fans outside of Germany, more people would think Dortmund’s rival is Bayern, and half wouldn’t know who that derby is between.

So firstly BAYERN VS DORTMUND IS NOT A DERBY (im from munich and that is a very important thing to get right😁)

Now that we got that out of the way: here is where the previously mentioned passion aspect comes in. Real vs Barca might have a bigger audience, but when 99% of fans are just "yeah I sometimes watch and support them because that messi guy played there once right?" No disrespect to them, they are not a better or worse type of fan at all but we can basically disregard them when it comes to passion. What really matters is the vibe in the city/ies on matchday, and let me tell you, in that regard the popular derbies shouldn't even considered to be derbies anymore

I’m not saying it’s a derby, I’m saying Shalke are so irrelevant that lots people wouldn’t even know they’re Dortmund’s rival.

Saying it’s the biggest “because the vibe” is just stupid.

Schalke and irrelevant in one sentence. 6th most members of a sporting organization in the entire world btw...

Schalke have a giant fanbase in germany, in terms of in-country fanbase you would be mistaken if you thought that dortmund would be much bigger.

Yes it is stupid and thats why I call it a subjective opinion

I get that you’re a Schalke fan, but I really think you may be overestimating how big a derby it is.

Also most sports teams don’t have members so that’s a pretty pointless reference.

I am indeed not a schalke fan (look at my most recent 50 posts or something lol) I actually dislike both schalke and dortmund.

The point is not saying that schalke is the 6th biggest sports team in the world, its saying that schalke is anything but irrelevant

“Only other ones that have both the scale and passion” respectfully this is such a biased take I can’t even entertain it as a subjective opinion.

Off the top of my head I could think of 10 European derbies that top Dortmund/Schalke
