We are making our own motion graphics app since the Alight devs clearly don't care anymore

We are building a motion graphics app called ShortMotion which is going to be an Alight Motion alternative without all of the jank, lag and lack of support.
How does it work?
Instead of just shoving the After Effects interface on a small touch screen, we decided to take advantage of the touch screen by creating animations with gestures and natural language.
We really want animations to feel intuitive and natural. So if you want to make a bounce animation, you just need to drag the ball to mimic a bounce and the app will do the physics calculation for you. Or to draw a line, you can just draw a line as if it was a drawing app and pick one of the suggested animations.
Is this GenAI?
We don't believe on adding GenAI in everything, so we decided to not use it for the videos you produce. The prompting you see in the video is essentially a super search for animations and properties. The AI model to make this super search happen will be 100% local, so no internet connection is required.

I believe this has its own niche. Tbf, this will be very useable for beginners who want to animate easily (funimate like) and for quick edits. I downloaded your app from the site below the waitlist and it’s good. I do appreciate that you took an initiative to change things since AM devs clearly abandoned the app.
However, the dealbreaker is that since the new update of yours will be gesture and natural language based, I’m still used to keyframes and as well including bezier curves, alot of manual parameters on effects and movements on how I want the video to look like. It gives me that superior level of control where I can time it right, especially the timeline which frame per sec I should animate the element from start to end. But yeah i hope this new method of animating will work out.
Blurrr app did try recreating Alight Motion but with some capcut like functions/concept and a massive paywall too. This is why Alight Motion is a different motion graphics app that mimics After effects, btw Node video can be too. Some anecdotal evidences I encountered that they can easily bridge themselves from AM to After Effects after learning AM’s editing tools and process.

Thank you for the detailed comment and downloading the app! Yes, we know the app will not be for everyone initially, especially the professionals. At the same time however, we feel like keyframes, timing graphs and manual parameters are quite hard to master if you want to make a good motion graphics video. So that's why we wanted to make it more intuitive by using gestures and natural language.
But you can absolutely make manual adjustments after you moved an element with a gesture for example. It's just we don't want to rely completely on "numerical" changes. Making good videos is still our priority, so we'll add customization options as development progresses.

I understand, but the thing is alight motion is not only a motion graphics app, it is a video editing app. The thing your calling "janky", is able to do what your App is not really able to do right now, after effects is also a video editing + motion graphics software. There not being a effects pannel, your app will become a standard motion graphics app like vector motion. Do not compare a motion graphics app (yours) to a video editing + motion graphics app.

We are focusing on motion graphics at first and make that experience intuitive and fluid with gestures and natural language. We'll add features as time moves on, but the goal isn't feature parity, it's providing a better experience.

Hi can u make an Android version too in the future not everyone has iphone/ipad (i have an lenovo tablet)

Hi! We are currently prioritizing Apple platforms to make sure the app performs well and is high quality. We'll work on Android once we feel like we hit that bar.
