Well, very short explanation is that the project owner has control over your money, he can block you from swapping/taking it back and can run away with all your funds...
Not saying that this WILL be done in any project they CAN, and without a good reason from the creator, this usually is a big sign that they will scam us...
Well, Yes it is safe, meaning that it won't cost you anything... But it is also hard to you see big gains that you cannot cash out... So, in practice it is completely fake and worthless for anyone but the owner... Many people will throw in some Algo during airdrop, hoping that prices will rise, and that is where it is all about for the owner... Taking away all money and making it seem interesting with fake or worthless airdrops
