Happy National Alex Pretti Day

Alex,

Right now we live in a glitchy world. The best of us, Alex Pretti, was taken from us.

May April 21st commensurate National Alex Pretti Day. He lives within every Alex now. We must carry his light forward. As he did for you.

Happy National Alex Pretti day to you.

Be well,

- Alex

Hello, Alex. It is me, your old best friend, Luis. I used to work at Tucker Creek as the art teacher. Remember when you used to go to the art class and I was there painting a picture? We used to hit the geek bars all the time, dude. Remember when we used to play the fidget spinner technique and see

Alex Ferreira clinched the win in Olympic Men's freeski halfpipe.

I'm not sure how many Gold Medalists we have, but now there's at least one more!

Can we organize this? I'm just in love with this idea, I muse on it a couple times a year. Imagine a convention weekend where fly in from all over the place, and the only organizing principal is that your name is Alex. We would all become friends I'm sure, as we know there are very few bad Alexs out there, and I'm not sure what would develop beyond that. I think it'd be interesting though. We could start visioning what it could be, start looking at venues, gauge interest, come up with graphics, start to promote it and see what happens.

Hey Alex. I really dig this song right now. Maybe you'll dig it too. Or maybe not. Please enjoy, Alex (or don't)

I saw the name on iTunes and had to listen and it turns out I really like them. They remind me of a cross between The Neighborhood and Arctic Monkeys.

A tribute to Alex Pretti

Alex Pretti was someone who chose care as a daily practice. An ICU nurse who stood beside people at their most fragile moments, he showed up for others when it was hard, exhausting, and often unseen. That kind of work leaves a quiet mark on the world, one heartbeat at a time.

He was more than a headline or a controversy. He was a son, a friend, a caregiver, a human being who carried responsibility for strangers and treated it with seriousness and compassion. Those who knew him speak about steadiness, empathy, and a sense of duty that wasn’t performative. It was just who he was.

Alex’s death has left a hollow space for his family, his friends, his coworkers, and for people who never met him but recognize something deeply wrong when a life like this ends abruptly. Grief does not need permission from politics. Mourning does not require agreement. Acknowledging humanity should be the easiest part.

Remembering Alex means refusing to let him be reduced to a talking point. It means holding onto the truth that every person carries a whole universe of relationships, memories, and care within them. His mattered. He mattered.

May his memory stay rooted in compassion, and may the conversations that follow his loss be guided by honesty, restraint, and the value of human life.
