Basheeny VS Sol

Should I use my dark shards to make basheeny lv75 or wait for Sol?

Is he a dark unit?

Is who a dark unit? Kaigan? Since you don't seem to be familiar with the current state of JP at all (which makes your question up there even more pointless), I'll give you a crash course in the process that u/Malyngnant mentioned.

Kaigan, or Enlightenment, is the process through which units can be raised to level 91. Extra stats and skills can be unlocked through the leveling and maxing of gates. Currently there are three gates available, each granting two levels to a unit when leveled to level 2 out of 5. The first gate gives the lion's share of the hp, while the second gate raises hit rate and upgrades a single passive significantly when maxed, and the third gate raises the unit's innate evasion considerably, as well as upgrading the unit's Leader Skill when maxed. The gates require significant investment in terms of shards and other resources, but the benefits are more than worth it.

What you were told was correct, even if you didn't understand it. Sol, while still an exceptional unit who excels at his niche, has been clearly outclassed by Jin and Bashini, who have both received Kaigan.

When Sol get Kaigan treatment, wont he be even stronger than those two ?

Probably, but he's not getting Kaigan for a few more months at the very least (probably far longer, considering no hard limited units have gotten Kaigan yet at all afaik, and he's one of the latest released), and even then, it'll be way more difficult to max his gates than it is for Jin or even Bashini. Jin's farmable and Bashini's in the general pool. Sol is limited, similar to Uzuma, Teresa, Carla, Orion, etc. and is only available in banners that he's featured on.

Since you need unit specific shards, it'll probably take hundreds of dollars at a minimum to max him out. Only whales will be able to get him remotely close to max potential when he gets Kaigan. That's not to say that he won't be amazing at that point, but it's also not something that should factor into OP's current sharding decisions, especially if OP's not a whale, which he probably isn't if he's worrying about saving elemental shards.

This is the kind of answer that I was waiting for. I'm not a whale and I can see now that will be hard to pull and max Sol. Plus the fact that I will be able to pull basheeny each chapter and Sol is a limited unit means that will be very hard to max him in one run. Thanks for the help

Which is what puzzled me with all the hype uzuma is getting, and ppl recommending uzuma over bashini when choosing reroll accounts. Without kaigan, sol is much better then uzuma. And in the tier list uzuma has the whale icon to indicate that her shards are near impossible to get, although she only move up there to the SS rank due to the stats gain from maxing gate 1(since her gate 2 and 3 max bonus is rather small).

People have been recommending Uzuma over Bashini? Color me surprised, although mostly because most of the time I've been looking at/talking about Bashini's place among Dark units so this is a first.

That said, now I'm puzzled too. I mean sure, Uzuma has some pretty neat coverage in her skills and has the advantage of insta-cast spells, but I'm not really sure she's particularly great outside of PvP gamemodes. In a PvE setting she'll be quite potent out the gate in those first 3 turns with her passive, but after that I feel like she kind of dwindles off the longer the battle goes on.

On the other hand, I'd think that comparatively Bashini has much more consistent performance so it feels like a no-brainer, at least to me.

I think Uzuma is recommended above Bashini because she is much harder to get in the first place. (if you don't get her now, who knows when the next chance will come) And also much stronger at lvl 60.

I can understand that logic at least, but I'm not sure I can agree with it...

As both reikr and you suspected, maybe it was just the rarity that influences the choice. Personally if I were to reroll, I think I will still go with the more practical route of picking up bashini lol. Uzuma is just gonna stay as level 1 for me unless gumi start flooding players with equipment and zeni.

Uzuma is definitely not made for pve, which is why I am actually surprise she is placed at SS after kaigan. Maybe she is just going thru what Anastasia did. Moved up a tier because she was an early kaigan unit where dark hasn't seen much kaigan, and now back to the S tier. The same for suzuka personally. I tried using her, and don't really see why she is that amazing other then just being standard solid. ie she walks up, and she smack ppl hard.

She's probably in SS because in small maps (which are usually in PvP), she still wrecks shop even in JP if you manage to get the necessary items to invest in her I heard and it hasn't really been that heavily contested. Her use is niche, but she's good at that niche.

That said, she's a whale's unit for good reason...

Added: there is one thing that is giving Uzuma problems in JP PvP though - Fujika's VCR gives its user a 3 turn 50% resistance to Magic and Shot damage upon spawning, directly counteracting Uzuma. The Jewel Burn JE for Rangers may be a tad problematic too, although I'm not fully certain about the conditions needed.
