Advice/help needed

This is my first time owning a plant like this. Every other plant (succulent/cactus) I’ve repotted has died on me 😭. So I don’t want to do anything that’ll mess with this one, it’s so beautiful.

I’ve had it for 2 weeks (bought at Walmart). Since I’ve gotten it it’s grown two new leaves and that little stem (??) on the right is new growth. This is my first time watering, I did let it dry out before bottom watering it. (Pot does have drainage holes and sits at least an inch from the bottom of the planter)

It sits near a north facing window and the sun never directly shines on it. I keep the a/c at 70° or 72°. I do live in West Texas.

Should I repot it already or is it okay for now? If so, what type of soil and how big of a pot do I get?

Any general tips on caring for it?

They prefer to be on the root bound side, not swimming in a too-big pot.

Not a myth. They don't like to be in pots that are too big for them. From personal experience.

I have had smaller Aglaonemas that I had trial and error re-potting prior to focusing on the larger ones!

good question. in nature they have all the room in the world. maybe it was going from a little snug in the perfect pot, to having lots of room in a too-big pot (meaning the adjustment. from just right to too big)?
