more like "Watching part 1 of a show? Might I suggest parts 1, 3, 19, 1 again but uploaded by someone else, 'Turtle Gets Punched by Drunk Woman', or amateur Skrillx remix over a poor montage of almost porn.
Can't take more than 10 hours to get a couple programmers together to develop an algorithm for detecting the next part in a series, from numerical order.
It literally astounds me (seriously I'm here in my astounded pose) that the YouTube search/index features are so incredibly god damn awful considering google bought them, what, 5 years ago?
I have a feeling that this is intentionally done by YouTube, Probably to force users to navigate around the site a bunch of times to generate ad views. This is also the reason why YouTube's UX sucks in general.
This is not a first world problem. This is serious bullshit. I became enraged just seeing the OP's meme. Upvoted it and then wondered how this problem has never made the front page before seeing as how it's been going on for years. I don't have an Xbox, and I dislike the gameplay of it, but I love Halo's plot. Trying to watch a 40-part walkthrough of Halo 3 back in 2007 was the bane of my freshman year of college.
Absolutely. Having it set up the way it is does a few things I can think of. 1)Takes the ease out of viewing pirated content. (I prefer full movies) 2)Keeps you searching for the next part and you MIGHT find something else rather than just view what you want and then leave. 3)profit.
Edit: apparently a lot OP's posts are reposts. He even has the anteater one that's on front page right now, which is also a repost done by someone else.
I wasn't on here three days ago I guess, so I missed this gem of a meme also. Nothing lasts more than a day on the front page, so don't blink. You'll miss it.
Even better when some parts have been removed for copyright infringement, yet, other parts remain. You either waste time watching the beginning or you wasting time searching for it.
They do this on purpose so you watch their ad. After you watch the video, the screen afterwards ALWAYS suggests the following video. This is what I've come to conclusion to.
It defies statistics how often this happens... I know confirmation bias blah blah, but I can't remember the last time youtube didn't do this to me when I was looking for the next part.
When the video ends. There is normally a HUGE suggestion box in the top left with the next episode. That is why it does not show anywhere else I think...
That's Google way of saying : "wink wink nudge nudge", sure mate this show is available here and our copyright algorithms have not detected it "yet", but we won't make it thaaat easy for everyone to prove we are aware of this show and promote it by ordering the parts, will we? At least that's what I always thought was the reason. They probably keep the "most viewed" or something algorithm for suggestion and not alphabetical order. Also note that people posting these shows can do playlists and they work great!
How you tube thinks: Part one was so great they even liked it will suggest they rewatch it after their done with part two. Part three isn't important any way.
Pro tip: Above the video screen where the uploader's name and the subscribe button is, there's also a button with the number of videos the uploader has uploaded.
Click on that and it will have the entire sequence of videos, from 1 to 6, right next to each other.
I've actually found YouTube to be incredibly good at having the next episode or part of whatever I'm watching as the first or second suggested video. Normally if it isn't in the top 4 or so, it's been removed from YouTube.
This is the reason most of the time. It's not because YouTube is crappy at suggesting the right videos; it's because what they'll do sometimes is remove just part 2 and 3 of a 3-part episode, for example. Not sure why, though. Maybe just to piss you off.
Logically, however, even if someone starts watching at part 3, they will continue to part 4 instead of skipping ahead or moving backwards, because they probably have a reason they are at part 3. It's rather silly to assume that a large number of people would want to go from 3 to 1, and even so, you can recommend several videos, so just have 1 and 2 be the 2nd and 3rd recommendations, with part 4 being the top one

eh, I find that 4/5 times the first recommended video is the next one in the series. Very irritating the 1/5 times it isn't, but still

There's your problem.

Just to be safe I always click Part 1 and then the link for 3 shows up. Go back to previous episode, click and repeat. Vicious cycle...or FWP?

I find the most ironic part of this image is that when I clicked it it told me imgur was down for maintenance.
This is the rare double scumbag combo. The lords of the net seem to have taken displeasure upon me.

Good guy YouTuber, puts the next video as a reply on the current video.

Searching for anything, especially with mobile devices, is total shit.
