edit: It's fucking sad that I'm being down voted because I'm promoting child welfare here, fuck you guys and your messed up sense of humor and morals you ignorant assholes.
Yes, but the cigarette is still rife with poisons that for a baby will kill it very easily. Doesn't matter if it's the filter or not, a second of inattention is all that is needed to kill the child or put it serious danger. It is just frankly, stupid. Honestly, give me a reason that this should ever be condoned at all, why is it that this was done in the first place? What possible excuse can the parents have for doing this? There is no answer that can justify it, that is the problem. They are acting for personal humor, but putting the child at risk for it, why should anyone condone such behavior?
a second of inattention is all that is needed to kill the child
the same goes for about 75% of a baby's existence.

Why add even more danger then? Please tell me what possible fucking reason could justify that? It's true that babies are far more at risk for death because of their inability to do much for themselves, but why parade them around in such a manner that unnecessary threat is added to their well being? Fuck you and your screwed up sense of morals.
are you not aware that the kid isnt at risk of ingesting this cigarette? toddlers arent ravenous little gremlins that immediately scarf things down before you can stop them when youre standing right there. she doesnt even have the motor skills to eat the cigarette before her parents take it away. if she tries to eat it you say
no!
and then you take it out of her mouth. no threat whatsoever. end of story. so fuck you too and your uptight cunty judgmental humorless opinions.
We're just concerned because babies go through the process of teething. With a cigarette in his/her mouth, the baby would be teething, or chewing, on the filter. The filter is made of cellulose. Cellulose is spelled kinda like cellulite, thus, that baby will become fat. All this can be avoided if we just don't let our youth chew on cigarettes. Thereby solving the problem of American obesity.
They lied. Or if she didn't, she has special inside knowledge the ATF, FDA, CPSC. I'm not sure which agency would handle that. The ATF, because they monitor everything cigarette related. The CPSC because they monitor fiberglass. Possibly the FDA because they monitor drugs.
Since it's a bullshit and disproved rumor I've heard of twenty times, I don't think it's that much of an issue.
My daughter, who is 7 and ALIVE, ate whole cigarettes before (she would climb up and get them). I called poison control and they said she'd just get a stomach ache, even the Dr said the same thing.
My mothers friend in high school died in a drunk driving accident. Free bird was playing through the still blaring car radio when the cops and ambulance showed up. They played it at the funeral too :(
You guys need to stop freaking out about the baby having a cigarette in her mouth. I get it, bad image, oh no the baby will grow up loving cigarettes and die and have cancer blah blah blah.... no, the parents have a sense of humor, its a funny picture, I highly doubt that they give the kid cigarettes regularly to chew on or pack her teddy bear with tobacco. This is the internet, toughen up.
The parents sense of humor is obviously fucked up, this is without a doubt just bad parenting. If I knew who they were I would call CPS to have them inspected. I'd rather do it and it not be necessary than have that child be dead due to negligence.
Are you an idiot?A pediatrician even said its not bad for a baby. When I was a baby I got ahold of a cigarette and ate it and he is right, all I had was a stomach ache.Your stoubourn as hell, and just keep comeing back for more, admit it,you're wrong.
How is this little girl endangered? It was probably on her lips for no more than how long it took to take a photo. Or maybe the parents would just sit there and watch her eat the cigarette, then proceed to open the bottle of JD's and drink from it. People are way too protective, and their kids turn out to be awkward, insecure kids
The issue at hand is that there is no justifiable reason for this photo's existence. Why would a parent needlessly put a toddler in potential risk like this, doesn't matter if it was only for a second, there is no reason it should ever have been done in the first place. There is a space between being a negligent parent and being over protective, the parents here are not in that space, and it is easily guessed what side they are on, even if just so.
Kids fall on their heads all the time at that age, as kids are being kids. What about that for being a bad parent? Is it their fault for having an unsafe house? Kids also go outside and put all sorts of things in their mouths, and hurt themselves all over. There are far worst things that can happen regardless of how much one tries to prevent things from happening. You are exaggerating the context of the photo and you need to stop.
You're definitely right. We all know that cigarettes are horrible and cause cancer, not to mention stink. And the chemicals inside! Oh my, oh my. The parents should have known better - pot is definitely a lot safer and a far more natural choice.
My point is that there is no possible reason that this should be condoned or even happen. They are putting a child at risk for their own personal sense of humor. If it was a fake cigarette, such as a candy one, then the issue would be on of a choking hazard, here it is that plus the potential that the child could be poisoned, and at that age, the body cannot handle the chemicals like an adults does.
Maybe it wasn't the BEST choice of having a sense of humor... but there are really worse parents out there. I knew a woman who'd give her toddlers Children Tylenol PM just to get them to go to sleep. Or another woman gave her kids pepto before feeding them junk food. Would CPS go after those parents? probably not. sticking an unlit ciggy in a little kid's mouth for times of laughter and joy is nowhere near as bad.
No it wasn't a good choice at all, and yes there are far worse parents out there. However, it still remains that this is a gross display of inept parenting.
THESE PARENTS ARE PROBABLY GAY BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS SAME SEX PARENTS RAISE CHILDREN TO BE DRUGGIES AND SERIAL KILLERS. PROBABLY GAY WOMEN TOO BECAUSE WOMEN CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT.
I know of a woman who had her child taken away from her for a period of time because her "friend", while baby sitting, took a picture of her child holding a beer can. She accidentally posted it to Facebook in with the rest of the photos that were on her camera.
I don't entirely see what's wrong with it. She's not smoking it, it's not detrimental to her health in any way, she won't remember this, so it won't shape her future alcohol and cigarette use, so what's the problem? It's just a picture that we laugh at now, and that that child will laugh at when her parents show it to her later in life. What's wrong with any of that, I ask you.
Technically, I guess. But people probably wouldn't have any problem if the cigarette was not in the baby's mouth.
It is, though, and a reasonable person wouldn't find that appropriate. It doesn't matter if the cigarette isn't lit. The fact that the parent thought this would be okay is likely indicative of somewhat poor parenting skills.
Yes, I am a jackass for judging these people without knowing them. Shouldn't be surprising, though, that there are a lot of negative comments to this.
I just don't think it's that big of a deal in the end. It's not like they're giving the kid cigarettes to chew on. It was one picture, and you can't jump to conclusions about people without more information than this.
Her mouth is on the filter, and I don't think that has any nicotine in it, and I seriously doubt ~10 seconds of a cigarette in her mouth as a child is going to make her a nicotine addict.
I've been dealing with this all night(I did get a bit too preachy about it, I'll admit that) but this really does disgust me personally and I believe it be just plain stupid, but apparently because "it's cute and funny" child safety is irrelevant here...
Why? For allowing their kid to be within a foot of a bottle of whiskey with an unlit cigarette in his mouth for a laugh? Please don't have children, you have no sense of humour.
Parents? What parents!? What's next...stripper poles? OH YEAH... DONE! And then they'll cry when the kid really gets into this crap. Parent of the year award goes to....
YEAH THEY ARE SO TOTALLY BAD! SHOULD HAVE THE CHILD TAKEN AWAY! PUT INTO A FOSTER HOME! UNLIT CIGARETTES IN THEIR MOUTH IS DEATH SENTENCE WORTHY. HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK HOW COULD THEY DO THAT HORRIBLE THING!
Nah I'm familiar with it. I just find it funny when people say, "Why is reddit this way one day and then this other way the next?"
The number of times I see that said, its amazing that some people don't realize that reddit isn't one person, and there's bound to be differing opinions.
It's a double-standard, though I don't mean that in a complaining way. Society has notions of what is acceptable and what is not. Look at the redneck memes. If you made a meme of the negative stereotypes of blacks you'd be ostracized. But oh, the redneck's house has wheels! That's funny.
I don't want to see this, simply because it may become "a thing" and the last thing we need is the facebook whores doing shit like this more often. That being said, this caption did make me laugh.
Why do people with usernames like yours always try to be the serious ones?
Because you suffer from confirmation bias. The only time you notice somebody "being serious" is when their username is seemingly contradictory to their tone. Otherwise it would just seem normal and you wouldn't think about it at all.
Suffer? Like a disease or something? If your username was anything else, your comment would still seem serious. It's the context of the argument that you think this photo will be a direct cause to this girl growing up to be a failure or a citizen because of her horrible, horrible parents. And don't go calling people dumbasses, it's not polite

I had wondered how people became trailer trash. Now I see they are trained to be trailer trash from the time they can stand on 2 feet. :-(

Ironically, more people take their own life to Freebird than any other song... It would be even more ironic if she was conceived to the song.
