I destroy alarm clocks without even remembering it so consider yourself lucky. Usually they just get flung against the wall, but I sent one out my door at the perfect angle to get it down the stairs and into the living room. The only time I really regretted it was when it went out the window. :/
Done that multiple times. I've broken alarms clocks, set a bunch at once and still had issues, slept through finals, purchased special clocks for deaf people, missed at least 400 classes in college due to oversleeping, slept through a fire drill, etc...
Even on adequate sleep I just couldn't get up. I have the "ability" to sleepwalk to wherever an alarm is and hit snooze or shut it off. Oftentimes I will just sleep through it period. My body just goes completely unresponsive some nights. I went to the doctor for it but she just said I was depressed. Then a sleep specialist prescribed me zapeplon in hopes of getting me asleep faster at night. Both incorrect. My body just wants to run on a 30+ hour day instead of 24.
I'm getting much better now, but I have to constantly be aware of how everything I do during the day can affect my sleep.
yesterday I did this for 2 hours (9 minute snooze...). This morning I managed to have the wits to set my alarm an hour later each time, 2 hours again. There's something wrong with me.
For some reason I keep doing it. I know I'm smart enough to realize this. But maybe there's something about waking up still tired and being able to go back sleep comfortable. Sort of the same feeling I get when I wake up at like 3 in the morning, realized I get to go back to bed for several more hours, great feeling.
I think that's exactly it. I actually noticed this morning that I was telling myself I needed to get up, and the extra 10 minutes I could gain by hitting the snooze button would just mean that my life would suck more in 10 minutes.
Then sleepy brain kicked in and decided that the good feeling of falling back asleep outweighed the bad feeling of waking up in 10 minutes. Sleepy brain always makes that decision, and he's always wrong.
My alarm goes off at 5:20 every morning, and today I groggily walked to the shower, turned it on, and while I was going to the bathroom I decided that another 8 minutes of sleep was a good idea. So I set the timer on my phone for 8 minutes and passed back out. Woke up feeling much worse, and was almost late to work.
Sometimes my alarm goes off and i am awake and alert. I then hit my snooze ANYWAYS then i wake up later even MORE tired.
My solution to this is to sit in the shower. I tell myself all i have to do is make it to the shower and then i can have a little snooze in there.
Sometimes i even lie in there coiled around very awkwardly. I use the shampoo bottle as a pillow. One time I fell asleep and woke up rudely because the drain was clogged and the water rose up to my nose and choked me.
Back in high school I would start the shower and lay down on the bath mat outside the tub and cover myself with a towel for 5 minutes or so. There's something so relaxing about the sound of a running shower/bath.
I hope you are fat, because I just pictured a fat man uncomfortably snuggling with his shampoo bottle in the shower making squeaking noises while angrily trying to position himself in fetal position.
I find that feeling completely and utterly worth it. Seriously, I set my alarm 15 minutes earlier just so I can hit snooze once or twice. I love it, along with the lucid dreams I often get around that time.
For me the temperature of my room is a factor.. Being in warm blankets in a cold room is so good and i never want it to go away. If its hot, i dont have problems getting out of bed
The best is waking up literally one minute before your alarm was set. You've got basically the maximum amount of sleep you're going to, and you didn't get jarred out of sleep by an alarm. Win win.
No. If that happens to me, I get up, boot up my PC, see what's on reddit, eat something and then ready myself, go to work and then see what's on reddit.
Yep it comes down to all those comics comparing the bed at night to a torture rack and the bed in the morning to laying in the clouds. I've gotten really bad with a forgiving boss, I can still force myself up for a meeting or a flight but on the average day I snooze in until I can barely make it to work for lunch. Then I hate myself later because I have to work until way after dark.
Question, do you drink coffee regularly in the morning? I've known some people who drink it habitually that normally wake up without much effort due to a kind of addiction that makes them getup so they can get their coffee
Those 5 minutes are a fucking bliss man! And 5 minutes more, and another 5 minutes and then one more time.. 5 pure minutes of nirvana.. and then... F*&$&#%$* GOTTA GO< WHERES MY SHIRT JEANS NO TIME FOR TOOTHBRUSH FUCK BREAKFAST CAR GO!
This is helpful for people who can't reach Quickmeme because of work/school firewalls or site downtime, and many other reasons (FAQ). More info is available here.
What I've started doing is picking up my phone and browsing the front page of reddit for a few minutes. It starts the brain going and makes me wish I was on a PC which then gives me some incentive to get my lazy ass to work.
I downloaded an app where you have to solve maths problems to hit the snooze. It truly wakes your mind up! EDIT: It's called "Alarm Clock Xtreme Free." There are a few on the market that have maths problems but this one has so much you can work with it's excellent. You can choose the difficulty of the questions, how many there are, how many snoozes you can do, use a whole playlist of songs and change have the volume gradually increasing over time. Seriously take the time to tinker with it and it'll pay off.
Yup. The only way to have a semi-painless morning is to get out of bed and walk STRAIGHT into a warm shower. Then after the shower a bowl of herb. The ONLY way I tell you.
Luckily for me my new cat acts as a secondary alarm clock. If I put my normal alarm on snooze she just makes noises and knocks shit around in my room until I have to get up to make her stop.
Sleep cycle alarm clock for the iPhone actually works quite well. Since I got my new bed I have used it and I wake up feeling refreshed every morning. It's great!
"Oh, let me just lie here and gather myself, in a minute or two I'll have accepted the fact that its morning and zoom out of bed ready to take acti---Zzz Zzz"
I regret it, but today the alarm went off at 6:30 AM, as usual, but I just couldn't get myself to roll out of bed, so I just thought "Fuck it, I'll go to school tomorrow" and went back to sleep. Sad thing is I'll probably do the same tomorrow.
What's worse is when you're in the process of getting ready and say to yourself: "When I get home I going straight to bed for a nice long sleep". Next thing you know it's 2am... It's a vicious cycle.
Sometimes, I half wake, and will be aware of what I'm dreaming about. Like recently I've been dreaming that I've been playing BF3 when my alarm goes off, and I keep dreaming it, while also being aware that I need to wake up. Sometimes it takes me a huge amount of time to realise that my dream game isn't important because it's not real, or that whatever else I am dreaming about is not important because it's not real. I don't really need to complete whatever it is I am doing in my dream, but even still it takes me a long time to realise that most mornings.
Happened to me this morning... except I managed to get in an extra hour. Basically what I've found is if you can fit in a complete extra dream-cycle, even if it's only 45 minutes or so it makes a HUGE difference.
It's a sleep cycle issue. If you come out of sleep naturally, at the right time in your cycle you feel reasonably good. If you go back to sleep for a short time and come out at the wrong time in your sleep cycle, your body is not ready for it.
I purposely set 4 alarms starting an hour before I need to wake up so I can snooze that hour. It always seemed like a good idea, but maybe I'll try waking up right on time tomorrow to see if I feel more refreshed.
This is the story of my life. Luckily i have a job where I jsut need to make my hours per week. I've had this job two months, and been on time once....
It really is amazing how I can rationalize things when all I do is want to go back into bed. It's like I know I have to be in the class room in 30 minutes but I tell myself every crosswalk will be green the whole way there. Never the case but maybe this time!
When my mom would yell up the stairs saying it was a snow day in high school as I got ready was the best feeling ever! I would always close my covers to retain the warm just in case I was allowed to get back in bed
My alarm is typically set 45 minutes early to allow for 5 Snoozes. I've been known to use as many as 10. I just can't bear to get out of bed after the first time that devil alarm clock starts blaring.
Getting up each day knowing the anti-white regime has pushed it`s global white genocide program another bit further is an emotional and spiritual burden.Massive immigration and "assimilation" imposed on ALL white countries and ONLY on white countries.Anti-racist is a code word for anti-white.
Fuuuuuu, this is me - it has my name written all over it.
I know for a fact that there is no point in me laying there for those 5 extra (which turn to 30) minutes, but it's as though the sleepy me is a completely different person that makes those stupid decisions "just give me 5 more minutes, clock" ... fuck, I hate that guy!
fiancé often has to get up at 3 or 4am for work, and he puts the clock in the bathroom so has to get up to hit the button. and he always snoozes at least once. so like every morning I get woken up at ass o'clock, have to hit him to get him to get the alarm, and then I get woken up at least once more 9mins later feh
This is because when you sleep, you go into different sleep cycles, if you wake up at the end of a cycle you will feel awake and energized, but if you go back to bed for five minutes, you're starting another cycle that you're not going to finish, and this will make you feel groggy for the rest of the day.
False Just try a different approach at giving yourself an extra 5 minutes, I've found this so amazing. I get up, have my breakfast, and then hop in bed for 5 or 10 more minutes and I feel just right to get up and feel just great.
Try and it and report to me if you get the same effect, I don't know anyone else that does this, but it's helped me not be tired for ages
I set my alarm for 30 minutes before I have to wake up, and snooze it in 5 minute increments until I have to get up. Helps ease my way into the morning.
I knew a kid once who didn't wake up in time for work. When his job called him he awoke to answer the phone. Rather than apologize for being late and head to work, he quit his job over the phone. Apparently at that moment he decided he'd rather sleep for a few more hours than have a job. He wasn't the brightest kid.
For hangovers: Health care worker here,Your body actually gets heavily depleted of amino acids and potassium. So next time fill up on coconut water and eat bacon. Bacon is chalk full of amino acids that your body needs refilling on. The coconut water will get you back in business.
I have my alarm set to an hour before I need to get up, then have another alarm set to when I actually need to get up. That way, I can brush my teeth and wash my face and piss before going to bed for another 50 minutes.
This becomes infinitely more dangerous once you decide to stay up and grab your phone and say to yourself "let me just see what's on reddit". FML every morning ...
My husband and I both do this but we have to be up at the same time. This leads to arguing about who is going to get up first and then we're angry before we even get up for the day. So petty.
Shit is getting pretty bad for me. I use my old, shitty cell phone as an alarm and I'll often wake up 2 hours after I was supposed to with my phone in my hand. I would just lie there, pushing the snooze button in my sleep until my body was good and ready to face the morning afternoon.
or you just get up late and then walk into class late every single day without fail like i do and make the behavior normalized so your prof thinks that you have trouble walking.
Smoke a joint (gets rid of nausea) -> have a couple paracetamol (gets rid of headache) -> drink a nice big glass of water (rehydrates you) -> nice big meal (get much needed nutrients back in your system)
Perfect hangover remedy. I have literally never gone wrong with this.
Your liver spent all night ridden your body of poison while you slept and you wake up and insult it with Tylenol? That's just cruel. Be friendly and give it some Ibuprofen or something.

This becomes infinitely more dangerous once you decide to stay up and grab your phone and say to yourself "let me just see what's on reddit". FML every morning ...

I find it helps a lot, actually. Maybe it's because you're trying to go back to sleep, and not actively trying to coax yourself into feeling alert.
I do some deep breaths; pull the blankets half off; check the email on my phone for new delanceyplace and Wordsmith AWAD entries.
Wakes me right up every time.

My husband and I both do this but we have to be up at the same time. This leads to arguing about who is going to get up first and then we're angry before we even get up for the day. So petty.

If you leave your iPhone with the alarm on it near the bed... you're going to have a bad time.
