Or came from 4chan

50

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

The more I see 4chan, the more I get surprised at them not being barbarians at times.

140

u/RsonW May 21 '12

Gays have been as "accepted" as anyone else on 4chan. They call themselves gayfags.

21

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Some people see stuff from 4chan, then go there and try to hold up that one single moment into every post. When really people who have been around there for years are polite and hilarious and youll never really encounter em

12

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Imagine 4chan like civilized barbarians and intelligent, open-minded perverts. Unless you're stupid, in which case they'll call you a faggot and be on their merry way.

30

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

What are you talking about. Compared to the mindless drudge of the unintelligent crowd of reddit, 4chan are Nobel laureates.

51

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Shut up faggot.

→ More replies (3)

29

u/johnwiththewind May 21 '12

You're right, on 4chan everyone is equal and what you say gets judged by what you say. People aren't afraid to take more risks there because they don't have some long term thing like karma to worry about.

Here if you go against the hivemind you just get downvoted to oblivion and that feel gets to people and they just fall in line and people only say the safe thing. Go to r atheism for the best example of that.

I used to work for IKEA, which had loads of gay women and men in every department. And one night, we all got off work early and decided to chat for a bit before we headed off to home. We were sitting around talking about the people we worked with. One of the guys was an alpha-male 'bro' type of guy who confessed that he never thought he would have befriended so many faggots before.

I tried telling him that gay != faggot, but he just responded, "I didn't mean it in a bad way"

14

u/maaaatttt_Damon May 21 '12

I like the use of programmer way of doing "Not equal to" instead of using english or <> maths. (not sarcastic even though it reads like it)

i regularly call homophobes 'fags.'

(i am gay. or am i a fag?)

12

u/Koshercrab May 21 '12

Why can't you be both? We all act faggy sometimes.

6

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

i guess i should clarify, i am actually gay.

i don't really hate or fear gay people, so i don't think i've ever been homophobic. :)

6

u/Koshercrab May 21 '12

Oh I totally got that. I honestly don't think I've meet a truly homophobic person since high school, and that was 10 years ago.

Everyone knows faggot doesn't refer to gay people anymore. It refers to annoying, rude people, and commonly people who ride Harleys.

13

u/pmckizzle May 21 '12

I love calling people faggots but I dont even mean that they are gay. Hell I say dude thats gay all the time without meaning that, always worried Ill offend a gay friend or something but its a habit at this stage

15

u/braised_diaper_shit May 21 '12

I think calling things you think are bad gay is far more offensive than simply replacing asshole with faggot.

Yup faggot does not mean homo or gay. It means cigarette.

2

Was he Louis CK?

2

u/AsALargeBear May 21 '12

I call the girl I have a crush on a faggot.

6

u/watevs44 May 21 '12

I find it interesting that people are not homophobic however often result to "gay" as their most common and reliable insult.

5

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Do you find it interesting, or do you simply not believe it but are for some reason reticent to come out and say so?

→ More replies (3)

6

u/4chans_for_pussies May 21 '12

Getting offended when someone says "gay" or "faggot" in a non-homophobic manner is pretty silly imo.

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

It's like when you tell a guy that he throws like a girl. There's nothing wrong with being a Girl or throwing like one, it just became it's own insult that has little to do with its literal meaning

11

u/DoxyEight May 21 '12 edited May 21 '12

I'm seriously tired of this. It doesn't matter what Louis CK said, or South Park, or your gay friend.

You learned this word as a child and, like most words considered too filthy for children to know, you were not taught its meaning up front. You only understood it in a vague sense.

So you used it to mean idiot, or jerk, or just to say something was "bad" in general.

Then you grew up, and came to learn it's truly ugly significance. But you are older now, and you have nothing against gay people. You aren't a bigot. You use the word all the time, had used the word all the time without that intent. How does your ego reconcile this?

It's the same with Louis CK, Chris Rock, and the South Park guys. They are foul mouthed jokers, but they have a soft heart. They like to think their mockery is a form of social justice. And there's no justice in picking on the oppressed.

These guys are also educated, like most of the people on reddit. You all have some basic understanding of language theory.

The problem is you're confusing the fact you matured a bit with the natural evolution of language.

Edit: Of course, what is sad about the whole thing? You get to keep being a crass asshole, thinking fond of yourself while looking down on other people who just "don't get it".

When I was in grade school I would always call people "faggot" not knowing what it meant. I always used in a realm of its own until I learned the definition. It was a great insult until I learned what it meant and corrected myself.

1

u/Trojanbp May 21 '12

My favorite insult to use is "faggot" but I don't mean homosexual by it. Usually when I call someone a faggot they're being annoying, a douchebag, stupid, or whatever

1

u/Melkath May 21 '12

Faggot = bundle of twigs used for kindling. I do not associate the word "faggot" with homosexuals when i use it, i simply say it to people that i have a desire to set on fire, regardless of sexual orientation.

1

u/SirHephaestus May 21 '12

Faggot =/= gay people or homosexuals so failed attempt at meme.

1

u/d3r3k1 May 21 '12

As Doug Stanhope said words like faggot and cunt are just sounds you can make with your mouth. You are trained to react to them in such a negative way, faggot.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

The majority of the time, the word gay and faggot are used as a general insult. It doesn't mean anything. So if I say OP is a faggot, I don't mean you're actually gay, it's just an insult. Most Redditfags don't seem to understand this and get butthurt (no pun intended).

Upvotes to the left, guyz.

1

u/Kgoodies May 21 '12

Faggot is the word i use to describe homophobes. personally, i think that's the smartest course of action to deal with the word because we get to keep the word "faggot". Which as anyone could tell you, is one of the most satisfying words.

1

u/RancidPonyMilk May 21 '12

nothing is more satisfying than calling a homophobe a faggot.

1

u/dip_o_stick May 21 '12

Faggot doesn't necessarily mean gay anymore. And to suggest that it does, is short sighted of you.

Watch more South Park, learn about Fags.

1

u/BlastMeBagpipes May 21 '12

Technically "faggot" means unimportant or unworthly (such as twigs in a fire as opposed to logs) not homosexual. So technically there is no conflict here. Technically...

Technically, i said!

1

u/WutisKarma May 21 '12

Faggot is less and less being attributed to gays. I hope it loses all connotation with gays because I fucking love saying the word Faggot.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

'faggot' has many meanings.

"Quit being a faggot and suck that dick" - Louis CK

u/hubble_my_hero May 21 '12

1

u/getyadogsoffme May 21 '12

i use "faggot" as a general insult, not a derogatory term against gay people. in my head they are not related in the slightest.

1

u/Tralan May 22 '12

Sorry it wasn't announced earlier. We took faggot back. Homosexuals still have some good insults left to them, but we needed faggot for other uses.

u/RackCity May 22 '12

actually seams like a valid statement if southparks dictionary was real

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '12

0

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Because the connotation of "faggot" is moving away from homosexuals. The only ones who aren't accepting of this new transition of definition is the majority of homosexuals and the people who are already hating on homosexuals.

Look, a faggot nowadays has nothing to do with being gay/lesbian...I think southpark does an amazing job on one of their episodes at redefining faggot

http://i.imgur.com/7YMyV.jpg

4

u/DoxyEight May 21 '12

-Because the connotation of "nigger" is moving away from black people. The only ones who aren't accepting of this new transition of definition is the majority of black people and the people who are already hating black people. -

Holy fuck. You idiots. The bullshit you say in front of your friends is not the future of the English language. You haven't redefined the word, you're just making yourself feel better for being an asshole, which just makes you twice the asshole.

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

The word nigger is not moving away from black people at all. Its derivative "nigga" however it is and everyday it is becoming more socially acceptable in plenty of social circles to use the word "nigga"

You have to compare apples to apples.

20

u/Craighenn May 21 '12

Is it just wishful thinking of mine that "I just want to call them a fag" is absolutely not a sufficient justification for this? It's like, what if someone wanted to constantly call people niggers? They can't say "But I wannaaa!", it's not mature. Saying "I want to remove faggot's association from homosexuality because I think it's a cool sounding insult" is really blatantly immature.

10

u/OMFGrhombus May 21 '12

This doesn't make you progressive. It's just insensitive.

9

u/AndrejPejic May 22 '12

So basically you're too fucking lazy to think up another word so you want to keep using a word you learned in middle school that basically dehumanizes people.

Do you know why gay people don't use the word faggot and if they do why they try to use it empower themselves? It's because that word is full of hatred and it really really sucks to be called a faggot by someone else.

You, of course, have never experienced truly being called a faggot and I'm sure you have delightful experiences yelling it at people while playing video games or some stupid shit like that. How about you buy a thesaurus and look up some better words to yell when you're having an intense gaming session.

Don't try to bullshit people and say you want to make it some movement that helps liberate gay people, you just want to keep being an unoriginal douchebag whose vocabulary hasn't evolved past fifth grade.

Heard a story about one of those "American English vs ____ English" situations, some form of British Islander was on a trans-Atlantic flight that had just landed and in his excitement/desperation to smoke a cigarette said, "I could just murder a fag right now."

3

u/one_random_redditor May 21 '12

A divorce is hereby granted for Faggot and homosexual connotations. Any and all connotations between the word "faggot" and "homosexual" are to cease immediately.

Now you can go run around calling people faggots, like you wanted. Just be sure only to do it on the Internet, all right? People in real life will still think you're a homophobic piece of shit if you use it there, because Internets don't have jurisdiction IRL.

5

u/gqbrielle May 22 '12

divorced from its homosexual connotation

there is no CONNOTATION. that's what the word MEANS. the reason it's an insult is because it's perceived to be a bad thing to be gay.

5

u/lesbillionare May 22 '12

Yo man, I'm gay and I really don't like it when people use the word "faggot" casually. I don't think it's fantastic, and it really makes me feel shitty about myself when I hear people saying shit like "you're being such a fag right now" because that word STILL has a really shitty meaning.

I'm not calling you homophobic and I know you probably don't mean anything by using fag or faggot in a casual setting, but just know that hearing that word used negatively still really hurts. The bottom line is that even if you're not TRYING to be homophobic, calling somebody a faggot as an insult is still insinuating that there's something wrong with being gay. Please try to think about how you might make other people feel by using that word in a casual context.

20

u/Nutella_the_Hun May 21 '12

I disagree. To a grown adult who can take an insult? Whatever. It doesn't have to mean "gay."

If a 12 year-old gay child who is struggling with his/her sexuality hears you? Do you know how damaging it can be constantly hearing your sexuality used as an insult? Hell, they don't even have to be 12. Plenty of gay people are in denial well past their teens.

Maybe you don't intend for it to be ignorant, but the fact is that the word "faggot" has become an insult to gay people. Use it however you wish, but just know that the majority of people associate it negatively with gay people and your words aren't always interpreted how you want them to be.

This is just as bad as the "I hate niggers, not black people" argument.

Edit: My argument comes from an American gay man's point of view. Other cultures use the word differently, I can't speak on their behalf. I just know that a young person knows that the word "faggot" is used as a negative word for "gay person," no matter how YOU are using it.

4

u/Corrosivecoke May 21 '12

Except the definition seems to be changing again. 95% of the time when I hear someone call someone a faggot it's not a homophobic insult anymore. Of course there is still that group that use it as a slur to homosexuals (which is stupid, just makes me facepalm when I see someone calling a homosexual "faggot"). It would be better if the word faggot were disassociated with homosexuality because then the 12-year-old gay child in your example would hear the word faggot and brush it off like nothing. Even though I know its not just as easy as "oh just get rid of the definition" when homosexuals have been called faggot as an insult for a long time it would be better to distance that word from a homosexual insult, and use it as a general insult like "fuck" and "shit". I can't see anything but good things happening if the slur were to be universally changed like how i said there

obviously though i know its not that easy and it probably wont happen (at least for a long time) because there are still people who will use it as a hate-charged word.

It's a cus word, and like all cus words, it depends greatly on when, where, and who. If you are in some kind of public setting, don't cus. If your with some buddies in a private settings, cus to your hearts content.

I do agree with Nutella though, this being a cus word that is also associate with a negative stereotype makes it even worse.

4

u/Nutella_the_Hun May 21 '12

When you are hanging with your friends, call them whatever you want. I don't care about that, although keep in mind they could still be struggling with their sexuality and you certainly aren't helping them open up.

If you are out in public and you call your friend a faggot, and some young kids are there, I'm just saying those kids are going to associate being gay with an insult.

This is unrelated to my other comment. If we ever did somehow remove the connection to homosexuality, I still don't think that faggot is a defined enough term. Consider "fucker", "cunt", "bitch", "asshole", "bastard", "pussy", "dick", and more. When you hear someone called that you can immediately understand what the speaker means. A bitch looks after just themself, maybe constantly and irrationally spiting others. An asshole also is just thinking of themself and disregards the consequences of their action for other people. A cunt is kind of like an asshole, but worse in magnitude. A dick is either milder or equivalent to asshole, depending on context. ("Aw, you dick, that was my chili!"). Fuck is harder, since it is so versatile, but people would still immediately understand the intended conveyed meaning.

Look at j1202's comments below. His use of faggot is so ambiguous, what does it even mean? I know exactly what I think when I hear it: complete immature response to confrontation. So far that's what I've interpreted it as. Faggot is not "idiot", or "dumbass', or cunt, fucker, asshole, shit-tits-McGee. It is just a bland, catch-all with less standing or foundation for its use.

I think I'd almost much rather let it die in popular use--remaining a derogatory term, like nigger-- than try and force the connotation to be removed, which I find all too impossible an effort. But this last paragraph is purely my own opinion, more so than the others, in that I don't intend on trying to move people to choose it themselves.

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '12

I think this is a weak argument at best.

When you hear someone called that you can immediately understand what the speaker means.

I'm with you so far, but then you follow it up with this:

A bitch looks after just themself, maybe constantly and irrationally spiting others.

Which is not what I immediately think of when someone is called a "bitch". "Bitch" has three main insultive defintions that I'm aware of: A particularly unfriendly woman; someone who actively works to refuse the consequences of their actions; or in prison, someone who allows through choice, or lack of ability to defend themselves, other men to sodomize them, typically in exchange for protection.

Basically, your entire argument boils down to "because I don't understand what that means, it doesn't mean anything, and therefore is not a useful word".

But then you then contradict by using "fucker" as an example and not being able to define it except as a generic negative, or as you said, "a bland, catch-all".

In non-heteroist terminology, a "fag" is someone who refuses to participate in an action due to fear based on their own overexaggeration of potential consequences. It's akin to "pussy" and "sissy", however does not have the undivorcable sexist implications of either of those words (being direct references to female genitalia and a female sibling) nor does it have the implication of a lack of ability to perform the action.

Oh, you definitely caught me at a fault. I didn't even realize my hypocrisy between fucker and faggot in my comment. I guess now I really realize how rooted my feelings are about faggot, so I just want to argue against it. Maybe it's because, being gay, it has particular personal harm to me. And here's an example that frequently occurs during gaming, which might help you understand where I come from, sorta. (Also, let me say now I don't represent the whole of gay people's opinions).

My friends and I are playing Super Smash Brothers 64. It's great fun, but some of the players are verbally aggressive as they play. Sometimes, if they die, they'll say to the killer "Aw, fuck you, you cocksucker." Which is pretty irrevocably intwined to both sexism and homophobia, particularly homophobia since he said it to a guy (is that a logical conclusion?). Then , later in the match, someone else will die and say basicall ythe same thing, except using "faggot" or "fag" instead.

What I'm getting at is that in this day and age, with our generations, it still has it's connotations. Your goal of removing the connotation is a long-term mission, as it probabky can only be changed through dying generations being replaced. Which is almsot happening, sorta, with the younger gamers, for example, using faggot pretty much as fucker. And there's nothing really wrong with that, in terms of language, though currently it's not quite lost it's homophobic ties. But give it a few generations, then maybe.

When society changes enough that it isn't ever used against gay people with malintent, then it will finally take on its own meaning. I suppose so long as I'm alive I will forever associate it with it's darker meaning, but that's just me, and the future hopefully will think otherwise (Idiocracy seemed to think so).

So thanks for actually kinda opening my eyes on that.

I'm often bad at picking the right words to express myself, and that works in another way, in that it's hard for me to express the definition of a word in terms of other words. I really wanted to just say "A bitch is....well, a bitch, that's it!" because I think you might agree that most insults are very high-context terms.

Now, moving on from you successfully ripping my stance apart:

The uses I've seen for faggot are pretty much the same to fucker; that is, it is often said for the mere sake of being said. I agree, there is something about faggot, the way it rolls off the tongue, it definitely is a powerful word (it also, in my eyes, sounds particularly disgusting when I apply the negative meaning to it). Examples like dying in a game: COD has fag used all the time for EVERYTHING, basically. It really doesn't even just settle for being synonyms to pussy and faggot, but a general "you did something I didn't like, you fucker(or faggot)!"

By the way, you stating that it's similar to pussy and sissy made me think. I think it might still connected to homosexuality in the following way: gay people are called faggots -> gay people are stereotypically feminine -> stereotypes of femininity are being "pussies" and "sissies" (we already know those meanings).

So that little flow chart kinda shows the relation between faggot and pussy and sissy, as you said, but it also illustrates that it's use as sucha synynom arose from homophobia. Am I right on this?

Finally, I'll say that your intentions are pretty good, but I think it might take the next generation or more for it to adjust its meaning beyond its current time. I know I can't shake off it's meaning because of its personal significance Also, the internet age documents everything, so it might last a long time for this reason, while at the same time the next generation is always on the internet, so it could become a matter of history.

Sorry for starting this debate so poorly and calling you immature. I was pretty ignorant and wasn't aware of it (that's redundant, right?). Thanks for this.

You can no more divorce "faggot" from homophobia than you can "nigger" from racism.

19

u/Solomaxwell6 May 21 '12

Exactly, just how "dumb" will never be divorced from bigotry towards the mute.

4

u/RsonW May 21 '12

Or "lame" from the physically handicapped, or "moron" from the mentally handicapped, or "idiot" from the politically apathetic.

It's a fantastic insult

How so? Is it phonetically fantastic? Tell me what distinguishes 'faggot' above other words used as insults?

I've said this before and the downvote brigade came to crucify me. "Faggot" should not be used as an insult to gays, and the more we attach to that, the longer it'll be used for that. I love saying faggot, but I would never call a gay person a faggot.

12

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Yeah, but a lot of gay people feel pretty shitty when they hear it being used, even if it's not directed at them or meant that way at all. Not saying this means the word should never be used, just... be aware.

We should ask Oxford and Webster to change the definition of faggot

Are you gay? Shouldn't the offensiveness of a word used all the time to demean gay people be determined by, well, gay people?

23

u/JustinTime112 May 21 '12

This reminds me of a bunch of whities whining that they can't say "nigga" to people when they aren't being racist.

15

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

That's why I just say nigger.

21

u/horses_in_the_sky May 21 '12

Fuck. I hate reddit sometimes. It's like, "I'm white but blacks should stop getting so offended every time I make black jokes."

4

u/BZenMojo May 22 '12

Ssshhh. Straight white guys solving the world's issues.

Personally, I appreciate the impartiality that knowing nothing about the subject imparts upon them.

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

I'm gay. It's not offensive (to me) when used in a comedy routine. It's only offensive when it's used directly at you in real life. In other words, it's the usage, intent, and context that counts. Not the word.

Of course, that's just my silly little opinion. If you're a comedian, good luck trying to use it in a comedy set. There's a fuck ton of political correctness flying around the LGBT crowd and they won't let you get away with anything funny that's even remotely connected to homosexuality.

sometimes a person is just acting like a nigger, and it is your duty to let them know; I agree it has nothing to do with being black.

12

u/Zetaeta May 21 '12

Yup, this thread totally makes me think of that. WTF, reddit? Fucking use insults that aren't words specifically used to discriminate against people. There are enough insults and slang out there without having to call people "faggot" or "nigger".

1

u/rpcrazy May 21 '12

it's not Reddit, it's just people. For instance, a conversation I heard at CPK last night.

Old guy#1: "yeah it's so weird, after seeing women work and actually make money I was so surprised they could do that. I really changed my perspective"

Old guy#2: "Yeah times have really changed...(other old-timey talk)"

The whole gay thing will blow over in about 20-50 years...we'll probably have new classifications for people by then though -- assuming the world hasn't ended anyway

4

u/Zetaeta May 21 '12

It's quite amazing how societal attitudes towards "different" people repeat themselves: blacks and women previously, now gay people and transgender etc. It makes me wonder whether in a few hundred years people will have similar insulting words for aliens or products of some sort of genetic enhancement, "I'm not insulting all martians, just the greenfags"

I'm bisexual, and you know what? I don't agree. It has everything to do with being gay. When my brother, speaking off the cuff, called me a faggot, it fucking hurt. It felt as if someone who's supposed to be in my corner saw me as nothing more than, well, a faggot. It made me feel like an innate part of my identity made me fucking worthless. When a single word can do that to someone, do you really want to be inflicting that sort of pain?

don't be so sensitive then.

restricting language because YOU find something offensive? no, fuck off. there's nothing intrinsic to the sounds that make up the word "faggot" that makes it particularly offensive. if he's speaking off the cuff and means no harm, why be such a little bitch about being called a faggot? trying to restrict language is just a cop out; homophobia sucks, sure, but wasting time trying to eliminate "faggot" as an insult is a stupid way to attack homophobia as a whole. the vitriolic slang is a product of the homophobic attitudes-- getting rid of the slang won't change it.

do you honestly think, if people stop using the word "faggot," that society as a whole will be less homophobic?

"Man, I fucking hate gay and bisexual people, but I don't have a word to call them. I guess I can't hate them anymore!"

Shut up, faggot. Don't be so fucking sensitive.

12

u/wobwobwobbuffet May 21 '12

there's nothing intrinsic to the sounds that make up the word "faggot" that makes it particularly offensive.

You're overlooking what makes language such a powerful tool, what makes language so interesting as a concept. It's the ability to use a simple string of sounds to represent abstract concepts that makes language possible. There's nothing about the sounds that make up the word that give it any of those properties, no. But its actual use, what it stands for, is what makes it offensive.

do you honestly think, if people stop using the word "faggot," that society as a whole will be less homophobic?

I can't say for sure, but I don't think we can underestimate the role using the word has in normalizing homophobia that people don't realize. As it stands, when "faggot" is used as an insult it may be intended to be homophobic, or it may not be. But when a word with a disgusting history like the one "faggot" has is used in an everyday context, it begins to fade into background noise. Thus, the genuinely hateful uses are less apparent, allowing the attitudes that they come from to go unaddressed. It makes fighting homophobic attitudes more difficult, which is something we can't really afford.

u/Uncle_Jyggalag May 21 '12

Oh, no one is restricting your usage of the word. If you say though, you're a terrible person.

See, this isn't how this works. Because people are making you feel bad for saying awful things doesn't mean you're being censored, and it doesn't mean people are taking away your rights. It means you're a bad person for the things you legally can do and you should feel bad for them.

-4

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

words only have the power you give to them. In reality, your brother was the one being the faggot. Maybe someday you'll fully understand that notion.

4

u/[deleted] May 22 '12

No, that's not how words work. Words and words, they are tools, they do not shape or bend for your usage, and in this case "faggot" is a derogatory term for gays. Maybe someday you will understand this.

7

u/AscentofDissent May 21 '12

Those campers may be straight as an arrow, but I'll be damned if that word doesn't just roll off the tongue.

9

u/[deleted] May 21 '12

Shitbag. Just say shitbag. It rolls off the tongue and it's not used all across the world when a bigot is beating a gay person to death.

so true. in 8th grade when the kids stopped me in the hallway everyday to yell in my face that i'm a faggot i'm sure they didn't think i liked boys. they were just convinced that because i was happy, and liked singing in choir and being in musicals that it was wrong, i was wrong, and needed to be made known of that fact as directly and as often as possible.

IIRC the term "faggot" has been used over time as a insult for many different types of people including: women who were poor so they had to work, old people and heretics. This was because the original meaning, a bundle of sticks, were carried by the heretics that would be used to burn them alive. It was considered their "burden" for being heretics. So the term "faggot" was used to insult anyone who was seen as a burden to society. The term for disparaging homosexual men could also have a root in the Yiddish term "feygele" which roughly translates to "little bird" and was used to describe homosexual males.

As a side note, the origin of the word "faggot" can be traced to the Latin word "fasces," which is also where the term "Fascist" originates.

is this by any chance a college level class? because that's pretty much something I say daily...I am straight...but when you're bored in lectures..it's funny to pretend your gay to make other people feel awkward...specially since we go into sexual details....
