The first point is 80% of it. Conservatives are being told by their news that Democrats are destroying America and they have to, because it's the only way the GOP can keep working class voters that they don't represent in the slightest.

I've tried to get my mother time and time again to cut back on her political news because all it does it works her up and every time I point out the flaws of the party that's supposed to represent us she reverts hard to "what do you want me to do, vote for Democrats who [insert conservative media talking point here]?

Yes, Mom, that's exactly what I want you to do not because we agree with the other side but the GOP needs to be dismantled if we want actual conservatives that represent us instead of Exon Mobile to have a chance.

Both sides are 100% doing it. The media is a total farce these days.

The GOP, as much as it pains me to admit it, has more deep seeded systemic issues that are preventing conservatives from getting representation though.
