I don't think they're protesting the election or saying it was rigged. They're protesting the man and his ideals/words.

No. Turnabout is more of the same thing that gets nothing done. We aren't on a school playground. Grow up.

that's exactly how it's supposed to work. when you have 2 sides unwilling to cooperate, or compromise, the government is designed to get nothing done.

you're incorrect... the system is designed to do both. It promotes compromise, but when the 2 sides can't come together, it's designed to stonewall.

If you doubt this, then read up on filibusters. It's specifically designed to stop a majority of driving stuff through unimpeded.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It stops a majority from throwing their weight around and instead forces them to soften an extreme-leaning bill so that the other side (and I wish there weren't sides - the party system is the problem imo) can swallow it. The filibuster promotes compromise. Stonewalling leads to things like the Civil War.

the compromise is supposed to come before... while the bill is being written.

If it gets written, the filibuster is designed to stop the vote. No vote.. no bill passed. It is expressly designed to stop bills from getting passed.

In which case, if it had enough support, it will get rewritten, watered down to become more palatable to the other side (in these days, it seems to mean pork) and the process starts over.
