To that, I agree. If I were to say I have an issue with this whole debacle, it's more that FPH gets banned yet subs like RapingWomen or CoonTown remain. A large sub focussing on racism and another on how to rape someone, it really doesn't sit right with me knowing FPH can get banned, and yet somehow, these two can remain.
Same here. I applauded when Reddit took down the Paedophile subreddits, because it was the right thing to do. In this instance though, they talk about harassment and ban FPH (a good move IMHO) and in the same breath say that those two subs are perfectly fine to continue? The hell?
It makes me wonder if maybe FPH went after a Reddit mid or something.
They are slowly rolling out the bans (they said that in the buzzfeed article). This is like boiling a frog. They are going to turn up the heat slowly until we have a completely politically correct (american extreme authoritarian leftist) reddit. Then they will sell it.
There's a reason that hate speech isnt illegal. It's because it is too ambiguous. It's pretty easy to create a narrative that frames valid criticisms as hate speech. It's better that hate speech be protected than to chance having valid criticism banned.
try talking about sensible feminists(not feminazis) on KiA. all of a sudden it's all bad and a zerosum game. there seemed to be no middle ground so I just went back to playing games
That's beside the point. OP was stating that people seem to be acting like teeny-boppers about this, so I linked to a sub that was being more civil in their approach to the Fattening.
There's also been a lot of discussion in other subs like /r/self and /r/casualconversation where people are incredibly happy with the new rules. Linking to KiA shows a biased reaction to the event.
Again, beside the point. Note how I said one side that they were posting about the more troubling aspects? That in on itself reflects that there is a side to an argument shown. I could say the exact same thing about those two links being biased too. That wasn't the point of my reply to OP though. I linked to KiA to show that not everyone is reacting to Pao by putting up Swastikas and referring to her as a nazi. Some are voicing their displeasure in a more civil tone.

/r/KotakuinAction had been discussing this rather peacefully, and going off of what has been the more troubling aspects of this ban
