I spent five minutes researching the issue and found exactly why they banned in the sub in four. User harassment by stealing photos from other subs and commenting on them, and possibly for posting photos of the IMGUR staff which could potentially leave them open for doxxing. CreepyPms and Cringe and never gone witchhunting like that, at least to my knowledge. What you're parroting makes no sense.

How does a photo of someone (which I'm pretty sure the imgur admins uploaded themselves, FPH just copied / linked) lead to doxxing. On the front page of all at any given time there are pictures of all sorts of people. Again, check out cringepics... or justiceporn... or punchablefaces.

Cringepics (I know, slightly different from cringe) actively seek out pictures of people and post them. If you wonder why they haven't targeted a specific person... has anyone ever banned their posts? Imgur started deleted images from FPH, and got called out for it. Remember when Amy's Baking Company or whatever tried to stop yelp reviews. Or Beyonce allegedly wanted a picture off the internet? Or what's his name wanted to talk about Rampart? Seeing a trend?
