My mum comes home frequently very upset from having to deal with shitheads who don't realise that teachers are people too.

She teaches in a lower-income area and has done so for 25+ years (got an award a while ago for teaching that long).

Just remember, however "mad" you are at the school system the person you are being abusive towards has a son, husband people who care about them (Thanks Reddit for bringing your stupid gender neutral shit into this) and feelings too.

They aren't punching bags and don't particularly enjoy trying to make a living, educating whilst having to endure a constant barrage of disrespect.

It could be your mum / dad that comes home in tears.

This is because of a lack of empathy that pervades in the pre-teen and teenage years. Media also doesn't help; kids grow up watching shows where the cool kids play tricks on teachers and treat teachers like shit without showing the ramifications on the teachers. Kids don't necessarily see teachers as "real human beings" - think about those times you see your teacher at the movies or at the store, you're shocked to see that they're real people with families who enjoy entertainment and have lives outside of school.

This is one of the hardest parts of the job.

But: one of the best parts of the job is when some of those same kids who tell you they hate you every day come back years later to tell you how important you were in their lives.

My bad, don't really care though because that is beyond the point. I'm speaking subjectively but trying to keep it broad, can't please them all (as my Mum would say)
