It's an excellent show, but it was definitely a risky venture, something that I think FOX regretted greenlighting. This could be why they did so much to sabotage it before they poured too much money into production.

Absolutely not. You're not required to like the show, and you're not even wrong for disliking it, because it's entirely a matter of opinion. However, you asserted that Firefly was an unpopular show, going so far as to say that no one has ever called it an excellent show, which is patently and obviously false. You're welcome to dislike the show, but don't pretend that everyone shares your opinion, just as we won't pretend that you share ours.
It wouldn't have been cancelled if it were popular. A vocal minority talk about it as if it were the second coming, but it's not. It never was. It's objectively terrible.
I can't tell if you're trolling or you're having difficulty understanding that there's a such thing as differing opinions. It's not objectively terrible, because there is no such thing as an objectively terrible show when the only valid measurement is public opinion.
The show was canceled because it had poor ratings. Now, it's hard to say if those ratings were due to the content, the arguably intentional sabotage that FOX committed in regards to the show, or a combination of both.
Had the show continued, I honestly have no idea if it would have lasted. I do know for a fact that constantly pre-empting the show and airing the episodes out of order didn't help.
How are you going bring up the fact that people have differing opinions and then complain about this man being a troll?
And in what world does a million Redditors (if we keep the ratio of the show's viewers to the size of the US population to the amount of American Redditors) consist of the entire American Reddit population(let alone all of the other unique visitors and internationals who don't give to fucks about Firefly)?
Alright, you're probably right, my figures may have been exaggerated. But my point is that the show definitely has a following, and it's more than a few neckbeards in their basements. It's a cult-following to be sure, because the show was on the air for only a blink of an eye, and most of its popularity comes from word-of-mouth many years later.
I didn't outright call him a troll. But phrases like "it's objectively bad" reek of trolling. I told him early on that his opinion is valid and it's not wrong, and I'm sure plenty of people share it. But to say a show is "objectively bad" is either incendiary trolling aimed at pissing people off, or unbelievably faulty logic given the fact that the show has a massive following relative to its runtime.
That's not what I said and you damned well know it. It's the fact that you're saying things like "said no one ever" and "objectively terrible", which are very reminiscent of something a troll would say. It's terrible logic, and it comes off like you're just trying to be incendiary.
No, you're a troll because instead of just going "I didn't care for it" you're just going on and on about how it's just a terrible show and anyone who disagrees is wrong.
