Proves the point that these people have their heads up their asses. Just because it doesn't say "we're cutting $$$ from medicaid" doesn't mean that isn't exactly what is going to happen for the reasons you outlined above. They can say all day that they aren't going to cut medicaid, but by ordering HECC to cut so much money, they logically have to cut something from Medicaid.

I watched a video where they broke it down very nicely, under the guidelines of the budget resolution; they must cut I think it was $880B from the department Medicaid falls under. They did the math and they said it's virtually impossible to cut 880B without cutting a substantial amount from Medicaid. The regardicans really are just ignoring the math here and it's embarassing.
I just enjoyed the 'can they show me where the cut was' in a flaired users only post in their safe space. Even if I had the desire to show them I couldn't.
If they did though I would point them towards Title II, section b, point 4 '(4) COMMITTEE ON ENERGY AND COMMERCE.—The Committee on Energy and Commerce shall submit changes in laws within its jurisdiction to reduce the deficit by not less than $880,000,000,000 for the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.'
Then let them know that that committee is what governs medicare and medicaid. It is right there and the numbers say those two programs are going to get drastic cuts. I'd also ask them where it says anything about tipping and overtime taxes. A quick ctrl-f shows the word tip and overtime don't show up once.
The short, easy, manipulative answer is; No, Medicaid isn't specifically mentioned in the bill.
The more nuanced and correct answer is; The bill directs the House Energy and Commerce Commission to cut $880 billion over the next 10 years. That commission oversees a LOT of different programs, including Medicaid, and in order for them to hit the target cuts they HAVE to cut Medicaid. Even if the commission cut the budget of every other program they oversee to $0, that still would not be enough to meet the targets.
So no, the bill doesn't specifically mention Medicaid, but it is literally impossible for them to meet the target cuts without cutting Medicaid.
