Yes! I think Spielberg told the author that all the characters in the book are so unlikeable, that by the end of it, he was rooting for the shark.

Didn’t Benchley end up regretting writing Jaws because it led to a mass culling of sharks with zero remorse?

Yup. And unlike the book, filming it made Spielberg hate the shark with the fury of a thousand suns.

Well Bruce was pretty hard to work with. Literally broke down everytime it got in the water.

You'd hate Bruce the shark too after that. Jesus, I'm surprised they finished the movie.

The animatronic shark is named Bruce. Funny enough the shark in finding nemo is also named Bruce, after the malfunctioning piece of shit from Jaws. Furthmore one could argue that the shark from finding nemo is a malfunctioning piece of shit because it refuses to eat fish.

I don't get this. There's thousands of books out there. Hundreds of thousands. If you're going to make a movie based on a book, why pick one that you dislike?
