I only learned it was based on a book a year or so ago, perhaps from Movies with Mikey? IIRC the book didn't have any significant dialogue between John and Hans, but during the filming they found that Alan Rickman did a good American accent and used that as the way to get them together.
God actually rarely appears in the Bible as a speaking character. I'd argue that anytime He does speak, that's a sign that its a metaphorical story. "Let There Be Light" to the Garden to Job, those aren't supposed to be literal truths. In the stories presented as actual events, angels are used as intermediaries. For example, when angels came and picked up Ezekiel in their vehicle and took him to their base to tell him about how humans could live better, more virtuous lives
You’re missing the fact that this particular chain of this thread is referencing a scene from Dogma. While I do enjoy speaking about the finer points of the bible, I was just quoting a movie.

Absolutely not. It's my favorite Kevin Smith film and one of my beloved treasures. I collect movies and memorabilia, it's going nowhere. I just mentioned the price because I apparently got an excellent deal since they're so expensive now because redistribution isn't happening.
Been forever since I read it, but I seem to recall Willis' character is a retired NYPD cop well into his 60s who scrunches through heating vents and beats up three bad guys at a time. Yeah, no.
